#my controller won’t stay on when on a wire

Sounds like a bad or loose connection on the controller
"Only when the wire is at a specific angle does it work." is a surefire indication that there's a physical problem, and if you're sure it's not the wire, it's the port.
My puppy chewed through my wire and somehow made it so when I plug my controller into my console, it literally just succeeds in turning my external HDD off. I ended up having to shell out 30 bucks for a new plug and play kit since it's slightly cheaper then just replacing the cord.
Any regular USB - Micro USB (Xbox One) or USB - USB-C (Xbox Series X) that supports data + power should work, you don't need to use the official Microsoft one. I can't imagine all of those were more expensive than a play and charge kit?
