#turning off HDMI-CEC on series S
1 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
TV is a Samsung QLED GQ56Q60A
After you turn off the setting on the Xbox, you’ll need to restart for it to take effect
Already did that
I even took it from power
Thing is, I already turned it off on my ps5 and it works. when both consoles are off switching to xbox turns on the xbox but switching to ps5 does nothing but saying no signal
Can you try enabling the cec setting on Xbox , restart, then disable it and restart again?
Hm let me try
Didn’t work
I’ll try swapping hdmi ports
Nope didn’t work either
I give up
Guess then I have to turn off the xbox everytime I want to play ps5 🤷♂️
Maybe try factory reset keeping your games and apps .
Idk if its the xbox or the tv…
Tv I’d have to do all my settings again and put my accounts for netflix, amazon prime, …
Ok on my other tv it works as intended
So it’s probably my TV doing some bullcrap, forcing the xbox to use cec
Just to rule out something, can you take a post it note, a folded up piece of paper, or something flat and put it directly covering up the power button of your Xbox. Hold it up against the Xbox so there's no light passing through to it, and try using the remote to navigate again?
I just want to make sure it really is the remote doing CEC and not infrared
Its not
Because its not doing it when I use my other TV which is a Samsung as well
It works when both have hdmi cec activated and doesn’t work when either have it disabled
I was aware that the one x had IR but series s ??
Yes, IR in only on the Series (so existing IR remotes continued to work with it), but no IR out
Even if I cover it I can still control it with the tv remote
Ok, just wanted to confirm. Then yes, something odd is going on with that TV, not sure why
I think its related to that device detection feature
It detects the xbox as xbox with logo and all and in smart things „xbox hdmi 2“ shows up
I’m not sure how to disable it
Even if I change the type from xbox to pc it still does it
But the xbox thingy in smart things is still there
I heard people having the same issue with that specific tv and tv boxes where no solution has been found
Samsung doesn’t have any specific options than just completely turning CEC off. They call it “any net+”. So you can just try totoally disabling it.
Altenraitevly if you want CEC on but just don’t want the channel changing feature
Input the code.
Make sure you are on the TV source (not an HDMI source), and then point the remote at the TV and input the code: Mute, Vol Down, Ch Down, Mute.
Note: Mute is activated by pressing in on the Volume rocker.
No indicator will appear on screen after putting this code in. To test if the setting has changed, turn on a connected HDMI device.
Or if you have the remote that has the number buttons on it
Input the code.
Point the remote at the TV and input the code: Mute, 7, 2, 9, Exit.
No indicator will appear on the screen after putting this code in. To test if the setting has changed, turn on a connected HDMI device.
Why they have chosen to hide all the individual CEC options is a mystery and one of the many reasons I hate CEC.
I don’t want it at all but I can’t find an option to disable it
Button combination didn’t work
