I'll be frank, you could spend more money than the system's worth on cooling and overclock it, but that'll only get you so far, and it'd end up being cheaper and less risky to do a complete upgrade
800MHz for DDR3 is not a lot at all, especially running 12gb which is only about 11.2GB usable
Athlon CPU were never that great to begin with performance-wise
the GPU, there's not much to say on it, since you can run less-intensive games perfectly fine on a R7 240
and the storage is irrelevant, other than the fact it's a mechanical drive
which will automatically mean the system will run slower if that's the only storage you have
basically the only way it's getting a performance increase as-is, is if you completely clear the drive of any extra frivolous files
a lot of files means more to index and a slower performance metric
especially a lot of smaller files
but that's really about all that could be said/done @primal ferry
at this point I would consider ryzen
depending on country maybe used pc (not amd before ryzen)
Build a new pc at this point holy moly
yeah, sounds to me a new PC would be the way to go. I bet even the Ryzen 3 3300X will provide quite an upgrade in CPU performance. DDR4 set to 3200MHz against DDR3 at 800MHz is no contest. Only thing you would need is a GPU since the 3300X isn't an APU like that A10-7800 seems to be. Alternatively, if you want another APU there is the 3200G and 3400G. Either way, if you land up upgrading or building a whole new system you will require a new motherboard and ram that will add to the overall cost
Hi guys, I'm trying to get a rough estimate on my pc. I bought the parts off Amazon and Newegg brand new. On April 22nd. Of this year. And didn't finish the build till may 5th. I know things tend to worth less than what you originally pay for. It cost me 800.00 I'm trying to sell it for 600.00 to 550.00 on various of sites..
Case is fractal g
Psu is Corsair cx650
And the rest is here
https://www.userbenchmark.com/UserRun/29088003
look at the parts cost on ebay. check under 'sold listings', and then just add it all together. go by most recent sales, averaged, not highest price.
@iron hedge no self-promotion
Im worried the new cards are gonna be priced as premium luxury items cause of covid
those specs don't look anywhere near as high as I expected them to be for Death Stranding. My only concern is seeing how well it is ported over. Last thing I'm sure everyone wants is a game that makes use of one or two cores when most gamers have between 4-8 cores (8-16 threads)
All depends on the api
Which even if it doesn’t use multicore, it can still be just as good
looks like it will be using directx 12 so I'm guessing that makes it a multicore game?
i think the newest windows update broke bluetooth
i thought it was just my xbox controller at first
but then none of my stuff would connect

anyone know mirror's edge catalyst?
I'm tryna find the cursor
the .cur file for it
does anyone here have it?
Uuuugh wish Nvidia would show us the new gpus
august or september at least
maybe july
F
recycle it at least
You don’t recycle garbage
what motherboard is that?
X470
I replaced it with an asus b450-f and I was instantly impressed
Shrouding around cable inputs, bios is god tier as usual
whats your trash is better than what i main
I love the Asus bios. So clear and easy to use. Might cost a little extra going Asus over most, if not all the others but I think it is worth it
The motherboard has a little RGB symbol that’s always on as long as the PC has power
Even if it’s turned off
And it came with stickers to cover the battery
And stickers for whatever else you want to put stickers on
Msi didn’t come with stickers
0/10 branding enforcement
Motherboard also came with its own m.2 standoff
Most don’t (including the trashed one)
-1/10
User manual is also so much more in depth as usual
Overall you just can’t beat asus boards ¯_(ツ)_/¯
I think for my next PC build I won't go with Asus Maximus motherboards. Strix is fine right? Not really much of an overclocker. I say that having a 6700K and a H100i V2 aio cooler
Anyone wanna play FiveM?
Yeah strix is fine
"fine"
just get past the bios issues, RMA, driver redundancies and incompatibilities
and the extra price
I’ll take a strix board over any $200 board from any other brand at this point
I just sent 2 strix boards back because they had a capacitor failure
different capacitors mind you
if you're going higher end ASUS, just stick with normal ROG
sounds like you've had a pretty bad experience with Asus, Dark :(
See these things matter the most to me and honestly, I think I'm way to easy to convince or whatever the proper term for it is. All I know is when the time for upgrading comes I have a lot to learn once again since technologies within CPUs and even motherboards have advanced quite a bit since 2016 - When I bought my 6700K and Asus z170 maximus VIII hero alpha - and I feel I haven't kept as up to date as I could have
oh, no
I've had fine experiences with ASUS
but most people know that STRIX models are just...not that great
ahh, well thanks for informing me of this. Just not sure I need to go as far as getting another maximus motherboard. Though I say this and will probably end up getting one anyway
I have asus strix z370...
Strix aren’t that bad :p
The build quality is great compared even to similarly priced boards
Way better than the tuf boards that’s for sure
I thought TuF series were supposed to durable?
Aorus B450 elite
ASRock b450m hdv r4.0
Building a pc any tips?
not sure it is really a good time to build a PC. Prices are fluctuating and stock is low on a lot of components
on top of all that new stuff is said to be launching in the second half of the year (July onwards) so if you can I'd just wait, save up and go for something even better a month or so later
Persona 4 Golden PC features
- Variable framerate
- Full HD support (4K)
- Steam Cards
- Japanese/English VO https://t.co/GoZ4R9LP0k
Now is definitely a bad time to build a PC
And Denuvo anti tamper
Why devs still use that? It kills performance and usually not protecting game even for a week
a 3090? Heh. By the looks of it if it really is going to have 24GB GDDR6X it isn't exactly going to come cheap. Even with supposed price drops I'd think this sort of non-Titan GPU comes in between the 2080 Ti and Titan RTX
Hi could I have some help with my laptop please? I’d like to know if it can run PS AE C4D etc
I’m no good with specs and stuff
Try this - https://www.systemrequirementslab.com/cyri
Cinebench or 3Dmark can work good
The site/tool above is really easy to use
Ok I’m updating to Windows 10 at the moment
what are you guys' PC specs?
..
looks like I may be looking for a new monitor soon. Think my brother's monitor is on its way out and I said to him I can pass the one I have now to him and I'll get myself a new one. Think I know what I'm going for or at least have some idea what I want to get. 1440p, IPS and gsync
bruh im ab to buy parts and idk what gsynx and freesync is, and what cables to use for monitor and stuff
Google can give you the info for freesync and gsync. Plenty of info out there.
now is not really a good time to be buying PC components either
Game-debates can you run it is much more reliable
Does anyone know a clamp (monitor mount) that is compatible with the ikea micke desk?
The ikea micke desk is extended at the back and sides.

it'll be big if his theory is true, a dedicated coprocessor for handling dedicated BVH Acceleration (Ray-Tracing)
if there is one thing I dislike about new hardware launches it is all the rumours and hype around it. I can't wait to see Nvidia's next gen GPUs and all this stuff is making me want it to hurry up and launch. Too much excitement 😦
I'm sure others must have had that theory right?
coreteks has several degrees in computer science and computer engineering
very few have had that theory if any others
ah
does he have a phd tho
very few people pursue phd in computer engineering
because it doesn't really have that much practicality
even computer science?
I thought people like lisa su had phds
I said practicality, not necessity
ah
It wouldn't matter if he did or if he didn't
he understands it well enough to make his videos on it
ok
just tried using scanline sync on RTSS. Even following the instructions I was having a pretty bad time with screen tearing
star wars squadrons will support vr on PC and ps4 (psvr)
HAAAAAAA
so that 4000c19 ram got RMAd awhile back
They sent back 4000cl18
That’s a whole half nanosecond off of absolute latency
😍
Never gets old
Only thing left is chucking this eyesore msi gaming plus
The z370 board actually supports 4000mhz, which is super uncommon for z370. But it’s still ugly as all hell
Also gonna change this h100i out for probably a 115i pro Xt
I have the pro xt in my content PC and that black block is just beautiful
Better video
meanwhile most of my taskbar apps keep getting blank icons and nothing fixes it and if i want to change settings i have to activiate windows but i cant because my old laptop didnt properly associated my microsoft account with the key before it died
UGH
and yea i tried support but after the 4th time of getting someone who either couldnt hear me on the phone or didnt speak proper english i gave up. theres only so much i can do when im repeatedly being asked what the problem is after saying what the problem was
Actually a considerable bump in FPS
Which I figured it would be but I always forget how good it is at higher frame rates
All those charts on google are like 60 vs 68 FPS when in reality that’s like 280 vs 320
Nobody ever does scaling for competitive settings
It’s always BATTLEFIELD V 1080P ULTRA MAXIMUS
And then everyone goes hurr durr better ram only gives you 2 more fps
is it possible to connect a laptop to internet via ethernet if so how?
yes
usb dongle
what is that?
if your laptop doesn't already have an ethernet port on it, then you want a usb to ethernet adapter, search for it on Amazon
I can't understand why AMD would have to launch refreshes like that. If all they do is give a slight boost it doesn't make these new CPUs that exciting. If anything they may end up being even hotter to run than their non-XT counterparts. What's wrong with the 3600X, 3800X and 3900X?

These are last gen CPU's?
Because they’re a business and want more money
As production and binning improve over time, they basically end up with chips stronger than what they were at launch
So refresh, make money
The 8700k went through this. Launched at 4.4ghz. Now it’s up to 4.7 or 4.8 officially, with 99% of chips capable of 4.9ghz pretty much 75% of the chips capable of 5ghz
I’d you tried 5ghz at launch you would immediately regret it

https://twitter.com/tekwendell/status/1273333320441630727 @surreal moss Gen 4 Ryzen
I got confirmation of this, too. We will see zen 3 in some form or another by the end of the year. :D https://t.co/Wzh0CXOAA7
ooooooo
Yeah I saw earlier
I’m waiting till beginning of fall to upgrade
Rocket lake vs zen 3 will be the battle
My only concern is that confirmation being of a paper launch
I don't really think rocket lake will hold a candle
newer ryzen are equally, or nearly as good as intel in single thread performance, and that's already more than enough for even highest-end gaming, but Ryzen excel in multithread performance, where intel lacks behind. as well as ryzen's ability to task specific cores to specific tasks ongoing
the issue I personally have is that intel has a stranglehold on parts of the creative market, and has such partnerships with adobe for AI processing in things like photoshop
I’m just curious how they’re going to beat 5.3ghz at 250w
I mean
AMD's the ones that build the exaflop Supercomputer, not Intel
so I'm sure they'll figure it out
i just wanna be able to afford all this lol
No I mean like how intel will top themselves
Because supposedly it’s going to be the last iteration of 14nm
And the 10900k already is a small dying star in terms of heat
I can’t think of going any farther. Maybe in base clock but not 5.3ghz that’s for sure
Won a z390-f from asus for 150 off eBay
Time to ditch ye ol z370 gaming plus
was I a good board?
no.
in fact, you were an unstable pos 90% of the time
nice
So once everything's announced whats the minimum gpu is need to hit like 120/144 for at least a couple years
if nothing is announced then how the hell would we answer that
well im assuming its a 20 series
wow really?
I’ve heard nothing on that but ¯_(ツ)_/¯
If you had to get something right now, get a 2080 super
If the question is actually “will turing have any relevancy in 2021?” the answer is no
Maybe the 2060’s will initially, but if they do a 1650/1660 refresh in ampere then they won’t.
To what
Looking for a 120hz 4K monitor that won’t break the bank but I can’t seem to find one. Getting for new console coming out.
If anybody knows of one it would be much appreciated. Found one but it only went to 100hz and was not sure how that would work with the new consoles.
Not gonna get it for cheap
The reason you haven’t found one that won’t break the bank is there is none
You can find some 4k120 TVs but you’re not getting a monitor
Not to mention stock is low right now
speaking of monitors. Anything I should know about VA panels? Samsung are launching new monitors and their Odyssey G7 (27 inch) really got my attention.
@smoky flame i literally deep dived monitors and what they are
iirc tn is resposive but bad color, ips is good color bad response and va is smehwere in between
u cant go wrong with a va depending on the brand
sounds like a pretty solid choice going Samsung then. QLED, VA, 240Hz
HDR600 too, if I care for HDR. Heard HDR on PC can be pretty hit or miss. If I get that monitor I will try it for myself of course
closer to 10 is better
forgot to mention its 2560x1440 resolution
@smoky flame
https://displaysolutions.samsung.com/monitor/detail/1642/C27G75T
@full flint does it support G-Synic?
yes
no need for platform wars

my favorite part about buying corsair AIOs is immediately throwing out the stock fans

If I get a a 2k monitor will it work with new consoles or will it only display 1080p? Also found this monitor and wanted some feedback https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1545196-REG/asus_vg35vq_35_ultra_wide_21_9_va.html
1440p works with consoles, yes
as long as it's a supported resolution
a 360 will obviously only go up to 1080i/1080p for display, and ofc most games run at 720 or such
how long did it take yall to update to windows 10 2004?
Looking for new Xbox and ps5 didint want a tv cause 120hz is normally 60hz. So wanted a 4K monitor with 120hz.
how long? uh...5 or so minutes?
ive been going on an hour on updating it
different computers will act different

titanfall 2 on steam, apex legends soon
just by playing some MW and only after I closed it I noticed I have Discord open in the background and I didn't actually crash for once. Even got to play two games before exiting. That's a first I think with my system. Usually with Discord open I get a DirectX error at the main menu
Wait Apex is coming to steam?
yes
Why can’t I play halo 3 or 4 on the pc game pass?
Did you really need to ask that in 4 channels?
Trying to get an answer yes
Well you got an answer in #general-chat but usually this just makes people want to answer less.
Is there a release date for halo 3 and 4?

Please keep it to one channel, specifically #587074461770186765
This is my processor. It runs metal gear solid 5 but the GPU and CPU get pretty hot
Intel's gameplay software? Nice
interesting
They have a thing where you can check to see what games your laptop can run. Its really useful
It can also run metal gear solid 5 haha
And itll tell you the best settings to run the game at which is also pretty cool
Yh it is pretty useful
It also tells you what games it cant run lol. At least I'm able to know what games I can and cannot use on my laptop
How do I install Fortnite on my Raspberry Pi???
I have no idea Bis
This looks cool
I'll give it a go myself soon
https://steamcommunity.com/games/250820/announcements/detail/2471861771402099478
really does
I put my VR headset on so I don't have to look at my room 😄
i think it might be a cool idea especially if you combine it with pip for ppl who have cluttered rooms or cant move furniture
no really
with a $700 budget I'd say save up some more. Now really isn't a good time to be building a PC since stock is low on most parts and prices appear to be getting bumped up too
have to wait for prices to come down on monitors. Probably going to get a 2k tho ps5 is not confirmed on supporting that but new Xbox is. Had no idea 4K monitors were going to be that expensive lol.
how much are 4K ones there
here you can get one for £250
Looking for one 4K and 120 hz so 600 to 800 dollars or more
you will need to find one that supports it over hdmi
Yeah forgot about that some don’t do that.
Installed the 360mm and the z390
The m.2 heat sink is super nice
Need to clean the case a little bit before I boot this bad boy up
darn
Solid 5ghz all core with the full 4000mhzcl18
Board was definitely worth it for now
Make that 5.1 on half and 5.0 on the other
Yeah. The memory and cooler lights are fine. But the strips just kinda look...cheap? Idk. The exposed diodes bother me
I might just stick a diffuser over them and call it a day.
That’d work tbh
Most likely what I’ll end up doing
Will anyone suggest be the best pc build which can stream and game fivem simultaneously in under $500
Not gonna happen
I could barely build you one that could just play games for $500
I’d say min price for a 2 in 1 that won’t look like you’re streaming out of a console is $700-800
And that’s just the PC. No peripherals included
yeah, not for 500
Cheapest I can make that isn’t a dumpster fire. You’ll want a 2060 or higher to get the dedicated streaming chip
I can get it down to probably 800 flat or slightly below but it’s gonna be really really bad
even using NVENC, streaming can still be taxing on the CPU as well
Anything 8 core right now is over $250
Cheapest I can possibly go
Quite the dumpster fire as you can see
Little small factor GPU
go with the most basic case
what is the ideal setup for streaming on PC?
I just mean if someone had no real budget. I take it dual PC (Gaming/streaming) is still king or am I wrong there? and with Windows 10 latest feature update I'm wondering if that hardware accelerated GPU scheduling option may be able to assist the streaming PC
Dual Pc will always be king
If we’re just talking about the PCs, you’d just throw in a 64 core threadripper and a small GPU for some basic system hardware acceleration, then the gaming PC would be a 10900k and titan rtx
Supply equally of quality supplementary parts
All you really need is a 24 core and you’re set
But 64 cores is gonna make your production pipeline pretty much instantaneous
Like your bottleneck will be your SSD
You’d get something like a hyper m.2 and just set like 4 m.2s in raid and go to town
Still probably gonna be the bottleneck
so that's how a top of the range, streamer dual system would be set up? In all honesty I have no interest in streaming but it is interesting to see what a no budget, all out setup would be like. Would like to think anyone with such a setup out there finds the right streaming platform that can show off what all that hardware can do. YouTube has compression that I would think impacts the quality of the stream on other people's end. Not sure on Twitch or Mixer
Well for audio the easiest way to go would be a double GoXLR setup, one for each PC. Then plug the mic into the streaming PC one. Mic would be the shure SM7B
No real need to go any higher than the 7B
For lighting you can do anything really
Easiest is tapping into an elgato ecosystem
Get 3 streamlights/keylights/whatever they’re called, use one as a backlight and 2 as keylights
Get a big ol streamdeck
4k60 mk II as the capture card
Anything for room lighting should be Phillips hue as they have integration with the elgato ecosystem
elgato is required for dual-system if you use a console as well
I wouldn’t say required but it definitely works
You could go with any capture card that has passthrough regardless of brand
even more hardware
this actually amazes me it takes all this to stream - well, maybe not all this for beginners but for those with no budget and want to start with one almighty bang
no, if you're doing a full set up, you need a capture card, and the best is obv elgato
so when I said "elgato" I meant cap-card
but yeah, you can stream directly from console
i mean avermedia’s stuff isn’t half bad.
and now there's some services that allow overlays and routing
Definitely more budget friendly
but yeah, if you have a full setup, and a use a console to play some games on your stream, a live-feed cap-card is required
Your upload speed should be at least 10 if you’re streaming on twitch and 15 on mixer, assuming you’re pushing recommended speeds.
ye
That’s going to guarantee at least a 4 or 5 mbps buffer in case your provided speed dips
doesn't YT support 4k streaming now?
I think
if you're going for that you'll want 50
I don’t think they have a bitrate cap either
1080p is still pretty much undefeated for live-streaming. 4k requires too much to watch for most people without transcoding, and then they have to deal with crappy transcoding
So it’s a better viewer experience really to just go like 1080p and 10-12k bitrate
Then you’re pretty much guaranteeing that anyone on WiFi can watch and some mobile users can still get full quality
I think all this has made me respect streamers some more. Those that do go all the way to creating a setup like this must be really passionate about it
I have much better pictures lol
But yeah it’s a time and money sink
What’s transcoding? What’s key frames? B-frames? Keyframe intervals? What’s the difference between h264, x264, x265, NVENC, or MP4 and MKV?
Then there’s learning how to customize X264 at the code level
What’s good lighting? How do you balance temp vs brightness? Vs what camera you’re using? What lens do you use with what focal length based on how far away you have it?
hah, so much to take in. Definitely don't think streaming is for me. I'll happily stick to gaming only. None of that to worry about 😅
Or you can just be XQC and stream from the same C920 webcam for 7 years and call it a day
Learning about condenser vs dynamic mics is really cool
You can tell what kind of mics people have just by hearing it
Like when you hear everything behind someone and it’s like they’re talking through a laptop, it’s probably a condenser mic with too much gain
transcoding isn't all too problematic if you have a dedicated rig
Aka 90% of headsets
You don’t get to do your own transcoding for youtube or twitch lol
It’s sent to the ingest server and transcoding is handled on their end
(Transcoding is when you have the options to watch in different quality levels)
i mean i still get 1080 60fps on a 1650 super when streaming using nvenc
It takes your source ingest and breaks it down into watchable intervals. I think it’s 720p at 3500 kbps, 480p at 2000 or 1500, and so on
So people on cellular or rural internet can watch
You can stream with anything using anything
Hello everyone
But if you start cranking things up on the production side, you’re gonna hit performance roadblocks
If you try to double pass encode on your 1650 super, there goes your overhead
I use a 1650 super to encode my recordings live. With my modest yet maximum-for-twitch settings, I use about 25-35% of the vram bank at all times
Leaving quite literally 3gb or less to run a game
i just pull recording off the streaming platform afterwards if i wanna make a vid]
Disgusting
Nothing like taking that content that should be 1080p60 at 50,000kbps and compressing it down to 1080p40-60 at 6000kps and compressing it yet again up to whatever platform you upload the video to
Also rip your audio
Going from 256kbps to idek what trash twitch clips make it
It might as well be mono because it’s not far from it
recording simultaneously is the best option
because audio can be muted by the platform after
Aio set to $1000 because in reality you’re going to build a loop
It’s also missing the pci raid bay I was talking about earlier
But they’re less than $100 I think so not really a difference maker there
why has no one recommended gopro + camlink (or similar to camlink)
Here’s how we recommend you use GoPro as a webcam.
i use mixer to record because it comes out better than twitch.
https://gopro.com/en/us/news/how-to-use-gopro-for-webcam
@full flint for people who can't afford elgato cam link?
Here’s how we recommend you use GoPro as a webcam.
or alternatives
Yo the xbox one x needs a serious design upgrade apart from that the hardware is fire
Because gopros are still hella expensive
That’s more for people who already bought a GoPro and have it laying around somewhere not being used
Aka like a tenth of America
Or you could just buy a Logitech brio for like $160 once they go back in stock and have excellent color and quality at 4k30
Or 1080p60
.
id rather have the gopro setup
the logitechs are $300 atm, will be a while before they drop
also I dont mean the latest one
get one from ebay
this is the hero 3 plus
alpha gaming did a video
also eposvox did a video on overpaying for hardware
then again its vs dslrs, for what it is I wouldn't use those
especially as a facecam
if you dont use facecam you dont need it at all right?
If I have a monitor attached to my laptop, I get considerable amount of frame rate drop on any game. Is there something wrong that I'm doing or shall I just give up and use my built in monitor. I just have extend display over HDMI
Ok was looking at my 4K tv I had bought a while back and found out there’s native 120hz and true motion 120hz So my tv does only 60hz in reality. Kinda bummed about that. Looked for some 4K native 120 hz and they are all large and expensive. Man feel lied to lol.
Most TVs now support native 120, with a CMR/interpolation of 240
But yeah. They can be expensive
Is there a major difference between 2k and 1080. Or is it not noticeable enough to be worth upgrading? Seems to be 2k monitor is in my budget and I’m about to pull the trigger on buying one.
using a dell 1440p 144hz monitor, huge upgrade from a 60hz 1080p monitor had
@tribal pilot er, what resolution? What is commonly called 2k isn't 2k at all. 1920x1080 is 2k for 16:9 resolutions if 3840x2160 is 4k for 16:9
Are you referring to 1080pUW? 1440p?
1440P
1440p is definitely noticeable over 1080p
but I wouldn't say its worth buying if you can't get 144hz or 165hz
Sorry you confused me on that the ratio is different?
It would be 2048x1080 for dci
Look it’s all technical right and wrong and for your purpose 1440p is 2k
Because that’s how all the panel producers will market it, so going by technicality will only give you a headache
What should I go for New consoles coming out? Not to get it wrong?
Or what specification should I be looking at
4k120. If you’re going all out
Make sure that the native refresh rate is 120
Not the projected or visual or whatever they describe the fake refresh rate as
Budget so that was the reason for 2k can’t find 4K monitor that’s 120hz that won’t give me a heart attack from the price.
Most monitors will be 1440p144 in that spec range
You can find some good deals if you look often enough
I have a 1080p 144hz right now. So was wondering about it being worth it for 2k or just save up money and go for the 4K 120hz.
Yeah it would be.
So no point in spending more money if that’s where you’ll end up in the end
Because you’re gonna get a new 1440p and then a year or two from them you’ll be looking at upgrading again anyway
So just save and go straight to the end
is there anything I ought to know about resolutions other than 1080p on Windows like scaling? Very tempted to get the 1440p monitor I've been staring at for the past few days but what some people in another server said has also been playing on my mind 😦
Thanks I’ll wait tho it will be around Christmas lol
2560x1440?
Yep
curved monitors worth it?
Preference
Heard that some games won’t support untrawide cause of unfair advantage. And the monitors will have a black bar on the side for those games so guessing getting ultra wide is not going to be worth it. I could be wrong tho.
It’s not super common but yeah
Ultra wide is more of a cinematic thing
If you just want performance and compatability, buy 16:9
if you want 4K 120 on console definitely get series x and a tv (like lg c9 or whatever has HDMI 2.1)
3080ti may be good but we don't know it yet...
more 4K 120 monitors will probably exist as the years go by though (I hope)
prices will hopefully begin to fall in the next few years for 4K 120+ Hz monitors. There are some fairly cheap 4K options but all the really good ones likely cost north of £1000.
Currently no GPU can really handle 4K 120Hz in game. Even the Titan RTX struggles I believe, unless we are talking older and/or less demanding titles
Titan RTX is usually fine on most
It doesn’t hit 120 on the heaviest of hitters though
Which is all of like 3 games
wonder how good 3000 series will be
depends on what settings people game at too. I'm sure there are others out there like me that like to throw everything to maxed settings, even at 4K. Ray tracing options will wreck even the Titan RTX. DLSS won't save that Titan RTX and its 24GB vram and £2500 price tag
I only consider maxed out as a bench
DLSS is not maxed out though
It’s basically just another technique similar to checkerboarding, just using ML to upscale
Or dynamic resolution
Or motion blur
so you don't count DLSS as part of the whole "maxed settings" thing?
No. Because it’s not
Now
4k using DLSS to slam to 8k
I’ll allow that
Purely for 8k sake 🥴
Because the GPU is still rendering out native 4k
Watching some YouTube benchmarks on Metro Exodus at 4K with ray tracing and maxed settings and honestly I bet it looks beautiful to the eyes but that FPS isn't all that pretty
knowing intel its going to be pricey
also an australia link?
i havent posted it because i couldnt care less about mobile chips
however i was impressed when i read about
alphacool is coming out with a 400mm, 560mm, and 1260mm radiator
thats massive the 1260mm one
is it this or something else
https://www.aquatuning.co.uk/water-cooling/radiators/radiators-active/25905/alphacool-nexxxos-xt45-full-copper-1260mm-supernova-radiator
Yep that’s it
finally made my mind up about what monitor I'm going to get and I'm sticking with the Samsung monitor I found. £450 and it gets me a 1440p, 240Hz, VA and QLED monitor that supports HDR600. Going back to 2016 I paid £400 then on a 1080p, 144Hz (overclockable to 180Hz), TN monitor with gsync and I feel for a mere £50 more the new monitor's specs are too hard too say no to
link?
👀
Why does that look like a fake site
very real, bought from them loads.site keeps changing though mainly when you scroll down never used to keep the price and everything ontop
they have no stores right?
not about to pass up the chance of a feature packed monitor at that price. Just need to wait until next Tuesday to pre order it.
Gaming PCs may not be future proof but monitors sure are. Probably won't be needing a new monitor for a very long time - until that dies on me and by that time maybe I'll consider going 4K or 8K

Geez, that's nowhere near my specs...
Game's optimization is bad tho
Almost have no difference than PS4 Pro version imo so if possible play it on PS4 instead
I heard that game is also capped to 60 FPS by default but can be uncapped with a tweak or two
Is glasswire a good app to monitor my internet usage or what apps are doing what?
yeah I have been doing that but I got a bill in cause I went over my data for my internet and well something is sucking it up. I havent changed anything. I only get 1tb a month and every 50gb over that is a 20 dollar charge.
Ok found the data usage. Thanks that should help I just need to narrow down what is killing my data. Havent even been downloading anything.
@surreal moss you seen this? https://youtu.be/SBXv0xi-wyQ
I spent two months using mouse accel for FPSes. Is it actually good?
I stream Tuesday-Sunday at 3 PM EST at https://www.twitch.tv/pinguefy
I'll be doing some YouTube streams soon too so please stop by, say hello, and ask me some questions!
Mouse accel resources:

his results are interesting
(also oh god Windows' acceleration curve is just...why)
No money in the world could convince me to use mouse accel
Should be bypassed game side by engine’s input coding
Assuming the people who made said engine know what they’re doing

Any recommendations on a a ssd 2tb internal hard drive? Or 1tb
samsung 860 evo or mx500
cant go wrong with those
anything else ask the mods here
@tribal pilot what form-factor
SATA? M.2? U.2?
U2. always. Vertigo
o
a lot of newer, high-end motherboards ship with a U.2 port now
but yeah, depending on which form factor (and budget) the answer will vary
You have lost me lol on a budget so yeah whatever is recomended like 100 to 200 max would be good.
Ok so I know the difference between SSD and regular drive and that's it.
Honestly dont know I need to do some research and come back with this question later I guess lol
My hardware class was next semester but thats on hold I should get the books and start studying tho.
SSD are able to use SATA (Hard drives use this), M.2, PCIe (same slot-type that peripheral attachments like sound-cards and GPU use), and U.2 which is an SSD-only Enterprise-grade slot
odds are you're not dealing with U.2, as that's usually on highest end motherboards
I have one ssd allready and theres a spot next to it for another one so assuming I can put another one in. I have not taken the bottom part of and seen what the cables look like.
yeah thats it
e.g. does the port look like that
that's SATA
standard hard drive connector
(or optical in some cases)
this is m.2
this is PCIe
ok dont know If I have that connection on the board Ill have to look at it
the last two
m.2 can be hit or miss if you have it
PCIe are on almost all motherboards, optane-ready not so much
so it depends on which types of PCIe lanes you have
but yeah
go with Mx500 or 860/860 evo
Ok thanks
Didn’t they stop making SATA versions of those?

Hello
hi
If you need help with anything you should head onto #233805809346150400
I don’t need help I just have questions about PC and Xbox Play everywhere
Best to just ask what you need to ask
Lmao bet. So let’s say I bought Rainbow Six Siege or Modern Warfare. I can download both these games and play them on my PC?
If you buy it from a marketplace that sells the PC version of those games, yes
Those two games are not Play Anywhere
These are the titles that are - https://www.xbox.com/en-US/games/xbox-play-anywhere
summer sale is live
Time for me to spend some money! 😄
I'm hoping Epic do a sale on Borderlands 3 season pass some time where it drops by around 50% so I can then apply the coupon I had from the last sale event
Picking up Deep Rock Galactic
knowing my luck it will be added to gamepass next month

Yeah I'd play it on GOG too, or Steam
Any news on new graphics cards coming out? Guessing not since I’m sure somebody would already be talking about it in here.

My internet provider provides elite gaming app that lowers high ping and other issues. It works but it basically makes you wait longer in lobby’s like cod modern warfare for a better connection.
Kinda suspicious of it so far but I’m still trying it out for now since it’s free.
So far been getting 35 45 ping before I got 60 to 80 ping.
Sounds like a service that just refuses to connect you to server regions past a certain point
You can do this with most enthusiast routers that come with gaming software
So basically instead of giving you some server location far away from where you live (because it was the quickest match with good quality) it just region locks you (or close to region lock)
If you play a low population game you might just not be able to match at all, that’s the only real downside besides waiting longer
It’s free but I’m paying 115 a month for 1000mbs. Have only been waiting 20 seconds vs 5 seconds. Seems like it’s working and helping ping and I can monitor it. But I wouldn’t pay 115 for fast internet just to get it. It’s not op or anything it’s just something that might give you a slight edge potentially. Then again the app crap for all I know.
I’ll review it for the next week and post my thoughts on it later I have only played one game with it cod so far. It’s probably just a money grab for the cable company.
Please refer to #233805809346150400 for support related issues. People will assist if/when they are able to.
Understood @obsidian bobcat
hey, anyone play valorant
sorry wrong chat
Is the whole desk the mat? Maybe I’m color blind lol.
woah
I want one in black. Tho I have a glass desk and that would defeat the point of having a glass desk. That’s cool how much for something like that? Also how big are those monitors they are like TVs lol.
I have the same one in black. It’s getting washed and put away until I destroy this one
Won’t be hard since it’s white
I’ll have to find one to fit my desk.
Just saw a large one that fits my dest but it has RGB lights on it. Kinda want it.
It’s 4’x2’
Glorious 3XL
They make smaller ones. They have a 3’x18”
2’x14”
18”x16”
Thanks I’ll look into it.
If I connect my laptop to my Xbox via Hdmi can I use my controller on it
It doesn’t have Bluetooth and the USB port is broken so I have no other option
Connecting your laptop to your Xbox in what way? You will not be able to display anything.
Basically I plugged a HDMI yo my Xbox and my laptop
And opened the one guide app and my laptops screen is on my Xbox now
You can stream games from Xbox to PC and use a controller on there
No, plugging your laptop's display out to the HDMI-In on your Xbox will not allow your controller to control your laptop
What a question
can a 1660 ti run cyberpunk
not yet no
as far as actual specs required, no
its also quite possible the images are actually placeholders to throw people off
these are also screenshots from xbox's page, for the console
so we don't actually know what the top end will end up looking like
pc should look a lot better
i hope its better than crysis 3
It's Crysis 1
3 and 1 are vastly different games
i mean visually
yeah, that's kinda what I'm getting at
3 and 1 are vastly different
visually, mechanically, aesthetically
this looks like a cleaner version of the 360 port of Crysis 1, but with better foliage models
and we're about to see comparisons of all 3 versions in a few min
min?
minutes
I'm installing the 360 version as well
oh
i want cyberpunk sysreq cause honestly only that and squadron has me happy for games in the near future
@full flint @hot seal I went out and grabbed screenshots from the same moments as closely as I could. (even drove the boat to the same location in the second one)
Yeah they have said the remaster was taken from a PC
PC settings are maxed
screenshots I mean
did you see what they have done with the game, what enhancements used ?
I heard a few things, but admittedly I'm lamenting the assets' quality
those sandbags are....way too old
Crysis Remastered will focus on the original game's single-player campaigns and is slated to contain high-quality textures and improved art assets, an HD texture pack, temporal anti-aliasing, SSDO, SVOGI, state-of-the-art depth fields, new light settings, motion blur, and parallax occlusion mapping, particle effects will also be added where applicable. Further additions such as volumetric fog and shafts of light, software-based ray tracing, and screen space reflections provide the game with a major visual upgrade.
idk...we'll see
yeah I bet we can see it better tomorrow
"state-of-the-art depth fields" if I get Crysis remastered I won't see this since I tend to disable depth of field, motion blur and chromatic aberration
there's always a way
they aren't held in the INI file
not on the old version
maybe on remastered
those were always the biggest complaints with Crysis 2 and 3
you literally couldn't even mod it out
because it was hardbaked into the renderer
hmm I was sure there was an option through some official cvar file to disable it when I played Crysis 3
Crysis remastered just needs something like this and we should be able to disable stuff like depth of field
I find it funny too, especially since actual gameplay elements relied on it
in 1 I mean
I've just never been a fan of depth of field. First settings I look out for in games are the three I mentioned above. If I spot them in the in game settings you can bet they are disabled across every game I play
volumetric fog is another setting I'm considering dropping soon since some games add more than just some off/on toggle. Some games you can't even disable it, others go as far as ultra and don't show that much improvement (if any at all) yet hit the system harder than any other graphics settings
it's cryengine, you'll notice a difference
CE handles chromatic aberration differently than UE
UE's just makes everything blurry or fuzzy
CE's does the lens distortion with its...so it looks like you're wearing goggles always (thanks crysis)
ah nice
I mean...c'mon. I know they use it for EM detection
but at least tweak it for non-crysis games
wish more games could make use of the CryEngine. Crysis 3 looked a stunner and still does. Which it is hard to believe it launched before even the Xbox One and PS4 launched (same year though)
2007
CryEngine 2
the meme was "Can it run Crysis" for a reason
I'm just hoping this remaster can live up to that legacy
is the crysis remaster being built from the ground up? Cryengine with all the latest features and improvements + game rebuilt, remodelled etc. If so that may just be a day one buy for me
nice
hope they plan to "remaster" Crysis 2 and 3 at a later date. Further improve upon those games with the newer version of the Cryengine game engine
they mentioned ray-tracing, but I think they amended that out
it pluralizes it
Crysis Remastered will focus on the original game's single-player campaigns
either "campaigns" is a typo, and they have no plans to touch the other 2, or they're touching the other 2
well
3
Warhead
Cryengine also runs Warface right?
Warhead never released on Console
Warface is in CryEngine, yes
as is Hunt: Showdown
Ryse: SoR was also CryEngine
they're all Crytek games
I though Warhead was a DLC?
Warhead was a separate game following Psycho
it's pretty good
in other news. I almost forgot Death Stranding launches on PC in around 2 weeks! I've done really well to avoid spoilers and watch as little of the game as possible though I'm still very much on the fence about it. Could look really good on the new monitor I've bought - which should be delivered before then
trust me, even if you saw something that would be spoiler, you'd have absolutely zero clue as to any significance
tbh...you might not even follow it after completing the darn game
what I've seen and heard of it really intrigues me. Sounds nothing like a Kojima game though. Sure hope there are massive killer robots and over the top boss fights in it somewhere 😦
if not Horizon Zero Dawn may fix that
it sounds exactly like a kojima game
once you put plot points down
but you've been keeping spoiler free. so even then I could avoid MGSV spoilers and it wouldn't sound like a kojima title lol
Heh, I think I'll buy it but it won't be a day one purchase. I'll be looking out to see reviews relating to how the game performs before buying it
it requires a 1060 for 1080p@60 maxed
I'm sure it'll be fine
especially given how MGSV launched
kojima plays his games quite a bit before releasing them
any word on an uncapped frame rate?
higher framerates sounds a good start. Hopefully that isn't meaning just 60 FPS though, lol
the game already supports 60fps
but a majority of the time runs at 30
so it might just mean 60-stable
just hope my system is ready to put up with 1440p 240Hz real soon. If anything I've future proofed my display, even have HDR (HDR600) to give a try. Now I need to look ahead to what will improve performance and get me closer to running games at up to 240 FPS
I know, somewhat planning ahead. Display first, new hardware after sort of thing
I'll stay with 120hz until 240hz IPS are improved
I can't stomach TN or VA
I'd also much prefer 4k@120 over QHD@240
My monitor is VA. Sure hope I haven't picked wrong 😦 Going from 1080p 144Hz TN to 1440p 240Hz VA (QLED)
yeah, Samsung Odyssey G7
that sounds like recipe for failure
I've never heard of Samsung making VA QLED
usually since QLED's a more premium feature they advertise
but, admittedly I actively avoid QHD
aren't all their curved monitors VA and QLED?
all of the ones for sale around me are IPS
Here's the one I bought https://www.samsung.com/uk/monitors/monitor-cg75/LC27G75TQSUXEN/
Was looking at a 1440p and a 4K monitor and they were both at the same frame rate and playing the same thing it was a slight difference for me. So still on fence for getting 4K or 1440p monitor. Can you guys tell a major difference between 4K and 1440p at same frame rate? Or does it depend on the person and how far they sit from their monitor?
yes. visually there will be a difference if you're watching media designed for 4k
but both viewer's position and screen size and PPI matter
Keep in mind 4K will wreck performance in games unless you have a very powerful GPU. 1440p is somewhat of a sweet spot. Higher resolution than 1080p, allowing for a clearer image and performance impact is lower with 1440p than it is at 4K
what I don't get about 1440p is how did it come about as a resolution and why isn't 2880x1620 the actual midway resolution between 1080p and 4K? Do 1620p monitors even exist?
its 4x 720p
I think thats the reason but idk
probably gone now
720p to 1080p is the same scaling jump as 1080p to 1440p
You’re just adding 360p
Add another 360p and you get 1800p. Average resolution of Xbox one X enhanced games.
Add another 360p and guess what
4k
TiL
Spent today redoing my setup, still nothing great but pretty pleased
I have basically redone my cables and moved desk
Looks a lot cleaner
I so need to do that and change the thermal paste I have been procrastinating it really badly.
Moded my astro ct40 remote today with better modules. It has the same tension in the joysticks as a xbox 360 controller now.
How often should I change thermal paste and should I send in the gpu for when I need to change it
Think its 2 years and dont know about the gpu.
Recommendation on a thermal paste?Going make this happen this week. should be a fun project for me since first time and all. Unless I break it lol
arctic silver.
Thank you
Thermal grizzly kryonaut
Thermal Grizz for sure
Well crud turns out I have an mATX case
you didn't realize?
What’s the difference or what kind of case is that?
like, the smallest
Oh like new Xbox small?
I’ll google it curious now lol
Wow that’s small. That must make it hard to work on?
there's an NZXT case that's the same size roughly
but they're usually slightly bigger
this is adorable
My mini fridge is bigger lol 😂
Wow that has to get hot you would think?
usually you use radiators or pre-looped cooling like what's in that image
I just always figured more space in a case and vents on the case helped the heat. But guess it does not matter if it’s got liquid cooling.
Kinda reminds me of those steam machines back in the day.
yeah, not necessarily.
if you have a big case but not enough fans you won't have any actual airflow
I don’t get good air flow on my case so have a fan on the desk blowing air on the side vents on the case. Brings the temps down about 10 degrees. I know sad I should buy another fan for the case eventually.
I just leave my case open, gets enough airflow as is
the only downside is more dust to deal with
dark how you miss this

Hmmm well now I'm thinking I'll just sell this pc and build a new one later this year
it's funny that you imply that I missed it
it's been in my library for weeks
wait is that trailer the same one
yes?
in better quality might I add
From legendary game creator Hideo Kojima comes an all-new, genre-defying experience.

OMG DID THEY REALLY
HAHAHAHAHA
i meet the recommended requirements
a lot of people do
I'm planning a building for my brother. 3300X sounds good enough for how much he games and what he plays and 4 cores/8 threads is still pretty much the standard.
Just wondering if anyone has any build ideas I can follow. Would be a near full rebuild. Only the GPU from his current PC would carry over - that I plan to change at a later time
okay cool. that was my only question. ive been waiting for this day for a while
you're good lol
thanks man 🙂
I'll probably get it on PC rather than PS4
Looks good 😄
With the Hal Life stuff too I look forward to it
and here is me having never played a kojima game
I had no idea why it was so hyped when it was announced, but people were saying because its a kojima game
not konami kojima
Kojima usually had creative freedom within konami
I don't think I've played a game either. I just like Half Life and I want to see what they've done lol
I very much like the auter approach he and Yoko Taro have
even if it creates some rather hilarious moments in the midst of a serious setting
looks like a no for ps5 then
what
I don't know where you got PS5 from any of that
sony will only support certain ssds for ps5
many are looking into something like that from ps server
PS5 will use certain PCIe4.0 M.2 NVME
they haven't said anything on specifics...at all
so that's completely irrelevant to the fact that that's a PCIe4.0 MLC NVME M.2 SSD
yeah
i wont be surprised if the corsair mp600 works
6500MB/s
I wonder if the ps5 will support 1440p or do supersampling like the pro did.
awww yiss
you can buy One S at this price tho
Btw really cheap, it's good to SSD's being cheaper
It's open registration through Eventbrite, for those interested
@surreal moss every japanese game uses denuvo
it's horrid, but a fact of life we must deal with
Persona 4 uses it as well
The Epic Games Store team has decided that Conan Exiles will not be free, but will be available for purchase on the store at a later date.
228
3558
F
MGS V used it as well, so did NieR Automata
nier was more impacted than MGS though
Tekken 7 uses it too
and FFXV
basically
if it's from SEGA, Bandai, SQENIX, Sony, or Capcom...expect Denuvo because it's more likely than not
If they spent the money for game itself instead of protection people would actually buy game. The thing none of companies get is our one eyed friends always seeks for free stuff. 1 year? 5 years?don't matter for them. All they do is torturing legitmate users
I know someone who didn't get The Last Of Us because he "knew" it would be free via plus one day
There's people who waited 350 days for playing FH4 "free"
350 days, do you really think they do care DRM and will buy games legally?
USB-C Portable USB oh yeah
fyi only applies to PC I think
DX12 is a multicore api made by msft
That’s how they use the Microsoft ray tracing stuff
Aka if you still have a quad core processor, good luck.
Quad core will still work fine just might not be ideal.
Cyberpunk 2077 is still being released on current gen consoles so I don't think we'll see the whole multicore thing come into play until we start to see some Series X/PS5 only titles launch THEN I think quad core CPU users better worry.
Apparently we have at least 2 years before that happens. Plenty time to save up and go for something greater than quad core.
By that point DDR5 may be about too.
