Ultimate is just a combined package that gives you Xbox Game Pass, PC Game Pass and Xbox Live Gold. It saves you paying for all three separately.

What they may have meant was the Ultimate editions of some games. They usually have four days early access.

#

Game Pass Ultimate got the Ultimate version of Gears of War 5, whereas regular Game Pass got the normal version, so had to wait four days for general release.

#

But there's been no confirmation on whether Game Pass Ultimate will always get the Ultimate edition of games going forward.

Yeah, they didn't do it with Horizon 4. I bought the Ultimate separately. Gears 5 was the first time they did that.
