I tried doing some guardian dh 2s with a buddy but he just keeps dying. We're trying to hit 2.1k but had better luck as resto by a long shot, and I'm not a great resto either.
How do people get it to work in 2s at higher ratings? He just gets smacked

How do you start doing arenas? I am thinking about starting doing some as balance druid but i’ve never some arenas before. Do you watch guides/write macros and stuff or just do mathces with random ppl as a start? ( i have no friend who’d be interested in doing arenas) What matchups balance druids are viable in, what partners?

To start youll need macros for arena ( either arena 1 2 3 macros, or focus macros). That type of info will be in any decent guide.
Once you have keybinds/ui you need to just practice. Boomy is a harder spec to play imo, so i would statt with duels and skirmishes.
But in the end youll need a partner and I recommend sticking to one or two people
So turn a pug into a friend or something.
If you want to get serious, comms are basically required.

I've seen boomie hpal as high as 2200 in us so its definitely 2100 viable in 2s at least, but a lot harder than just playing resto.

Yeah I dont like the "everything is viable to x rating" take on it thought it's true. If you are trying to just learn the game, get started, have fun, whatever, then play the spec you like best
But if you're trying to achieve a certain rating threshold, even if boomie is "viable" until whatever, there is no way around it, just going resto will make your life way easier
I think enhance suffers from the same issue as subtlety
Ele/assa are just much better in every aspect of the game

@teal hemlock it's good in the sense that it diversifies/optimizes your hots a little bit.
Consider a scenario where in 2s you're both kind of rotting down to whatever pressure and you and your partner are kiting in different directions. Your lifebloom is ticking on your partner, but you took a nasty swap or something like that and you used regrowth on yourself. Now when you use regrowth on yourself, it's more efficient with rampant growth because you got more mana value out of it ( You get two regrowth hots ticking on you and your partner because of it )
also, say dps go back on your partner after you stabilized
this sets up your swiftmend -> sotf -> regrowth better because you alrdy have 2 hots up on the target (lifebloom and regrowth hot)
so when they swap back, you just rejuv rejuv -> swiftmend -> regrowth
or rejuv -> swiftmend
which ever is needed in that moment
if that doesn't make sense, i'll try again tomorrow xd

Just choose a non tank spec, stick to it and keep practicing. If you just try to play the strongest spec all the time you will not improve. Guardian might be good now but it probably will not always be viable and then all the time you spent practicing guardian will be a waste of time.

bleeding rogue, poly immune combined with survival's illusive kit is still good
but i guess rmx is just easier to play well than jungle atm

normally if you're focused as feral in jungle, then it's up to your survival to make all the big brain plays
like dilly is always stopping sheeps and getting some nutty hunter's traps off to prevent kidney go's
then once priest stabilizes, counter the pressure with traps
and rmds/rmpals hate traps

I just started running 3s as boomie, with ret pally and shaman heals. Most are letting me free cast which is great but when I get sat on by melee I'm having a tougher time. Are there any references out there with some basics for arenas or is it all pretty much up in the air? Fire mages suck btw.

Does anyone have advice for resto druid in 2s? I'm gonna be playing with a DH, but I've never actively tried to gain rating as resto. I hit 2k as disc some days ago, but I feel like resto is a whole other playstyle. Anything from talents to matchups would be appreciated ❤️

Catweaving with dh nets alot of pressure but there are moments where Catweaving is dangerous

So use it wisely and don't get baited thinking you need to stay in cat for long to get damage output
Double raking from stealth with sunfire/moonfire can lead to alot of damage overall

sooooo.....runnign double dps with a dh, myself feral, havign issues with caster+healer, whats the strat? Seems like if we rush the healer the caster free cast and nukes us, if we split the difference, I can keep a healer locked up but in the case of paladins it gets rough

So playing as rdruid/havoc vs rdruid/destro, my dh told me to stop hiding behind pillar and play with him. I'm not exactly sure how to do that? As soon as I ran out and rake stunned, he feared me and killed the dh. we both had hots rolling on us, but after we lost he just called me trash and left

In all seriousness though me(Guardian) and my Havoc Dh friend have been playing 2s since early 8.1 and its fairly easy to get up to 1600. You'll lose against certain healers but we never lose vs double dps like rogue/mage
And there is a lot of double dps sub 1600
