Wilderkin are short, elfin folk, that can wild shape into a tiny beast. They have pointed ears, wide eyes, and cherubic faces, and sometimes take on a minor physical trait of the beast they can wild shape into, such as bucked teeth, or long ears. They range from 3-5 feet tall and can be Small or Medium.

This species is for my homebrew world to replace Forest Gnomes. Looking for a balance spot check and thoughts on the lineage traits. Willing to entertain other ideas.

I think they're pretty cool! I can't really speak on the detect balance of limited wild shape.

For a racial wild shape, I think being able to do it at-will but not gaining any temporary hit points would make it feel really great, being knocked out of the shape the moment you take damage, but I'm not sure what the balance implications of that would be. The limited choice of forms would seemingly make this hard to abuse?

I think laserllama's compendium of beasts would be pretty great for inspiration in terms of setting up those initial stat blocks!

i think the cantrip choices are solid, i love the permanent feather fall. is ignoring rocky difficult terrain really a whole 2 DB points? it feels so situational.

in place of shape water cantrip, maybe pb/long rest create or destroy water?

really cool concept, makes me want to try working on something similiar

Thanks for the feedback!

So ditch the limited use per day? Hmmm that's an interesting idea. I will chew on that.
The Temp HP are really not that important so I could take or leave them. TBH, it doesn't really make much of a difference since the HP gain is so minimal.

Thanks for the link! This is exactly what I needed. I've been looking at D&DBeyond's homebrew, which is mostly bad.

Yeah, according to DB ignoring a rough terrain could be 1 or 2 points, depending on the situation, plus Burrowing is pretty powerful and I am not sure 1 point is enough, so the half point either way balances it out IMO.

Create/Destroy water would work! I will see what that looks like...
