<@&634107343180660739> Project Mythos has its first poll up and ready.
Please select 2-3 of the ones you want in the book
I want slavic if for only for the fact that I am very biased and think we have some amazing stuff to pull from. And I wanna see rusalkas and a utopiec in this.
Alright lets see how to poll works out so far it is greek/roman, Japanese, egyptian, and(either slavic native american, chinese, or norse)
Also kinda hoping that eversky's isn't forgotten lol.
It won't be this is just a fun pet project
Got it! Some mythological stuff is welcome either way.
Yeah
What will this be about by the way? Classes, subclasses monsters, races or something else?
This round of voting will be for the new race the Mythborne which will have 4 separate versions
Kinda like dragonborn
Ah got it, would be down for a couple of races down the line since I am a big proponent of unusual races :v but I am fine with anything.
Yeah they are going to functiona as Demigods but mythborne sounds way better
Probably yeah, and maybe a bit less pretentious lol.
Exactly and that way I can use titans and giants and all other things
I'd love to see something for titans and giants, they are very cool and they aren't brought up too often in my opinion.
Yeah and I will most likely have greek stuff lol
<@&634107343180660739> only 36 hours remain until the poll closes and the mythologies for the race mythborne is chosen
Doing that only pings those that have messaged in here fyi
unless it breaks, and pings everyone.
But yes you need to advertise the thread in a channel if you want to ping.
Ah ok I apologize
I really didn't mean any harm thx for telling me.
not a problem xD
when I say everyone, I mean everyone with the role - at which point it'd add everyone with brewers to the thread is all.
Oh ok! Thx I am not so good with the whole discord ping system I just scroll and type lol.
Same brother, same.
Oh yeah forgot to ask, which ones did you vote for?
Slavic and Egyptian,
With Japanese being the last.
It is safe to say people want their Japanese race. I think I gonna have one of the subraces be kitsune born, and another Oni born
end of the day, personally, I think greco-roman, norse, japanese and egyptian stuff is done a lot, to the point it's almost overdone.
Then celtic and chinese stuff - but less than thos 4.
Yeah, but hey aztec stuff is still up. And you never really see any of that.
Poor Slavic tho only 3 votes 😬
i'm just not familliar with that mythos, whereas i have some familiarity with aztec and would love more of it
You betcha there will be a Quetzalcoatl born subrace if Mayans win a spot
Native American culture also has quite a few unique things to it
I actually went to a powwow once during an anthropology class
Agreed it also gives me an excuse to make a wendigo
Mayan/Aztec would get kind of fucky with characters because they have some really dark gods
Yeah that is why I love it, and also can create great narratives. Like going against your divine blood
and i’m too unfamiliar with chinese/hindu as I just haven’t read up on them much
Yeah
Well the main thing to take away from Chinese mythology is the monkey king
Well everyone knows the monkey king
that’s in the same category as greco/roman, norse, japanese & egyptian
And the Jade emperor, having mythborne of those two would be cool
Huh I guess i’ve learned a bit more about Chinese myth than I thought
Yeah that's why I am going to dive deep and use things that no one would really expect.
They’re pretty big sources so i’d say for trend following:
Greco/Roman, Norse, Japanese & Egyptian
For narrative development:
Aztec/Maya, Native American, Greco/Roman, Chinese
Bonus points if you make custom ones by drawing from one from each category
like Greco/Roman + Native American
Well this will be a compendium so don't sell stuff short because there will be magic items, feats, subclasses and much more so just look out. Because I already have a Monk subclass in mind "Way of the Shikigami"
We just need to get through the race part of it.
Forgot to mention love your homebrew forum. Thought of doing that with my eversky stuff.

Which 4 major mythologies do we use?
11

greek/roman
ya know greek/roman are probthe 2 largest, and they absolutle Are completely different
How?
Greek and Roman have some subtle differences, but are actually largely based off of each other
Nearly all Roman gods have a direct Greek variant, the names are even interchangeable
how what?
they are relevant yes. But the lore is incredibly diverse and both immensely complex
The romans stole quite a lot of their mythology from the greek tho, so they are auite similar
If im remembering correctly
Tiebreaker

1
Celtic
Complexity doesn't change that Roman is heavily based off of Greek
It is a known fact, Roman Gods are identical to the Greek ones with rare differences
They do have the Numen at some point, and after then Christianity (iirc) which I believe is what leads them to accept the latter
but a large portion can be directly compared to Greek Gods/Goddesses
Like Romans reinterpreted most Greek Gods/Goddesses to planetary names such as Jupiter for Zeus
Agreed it's based off. And a lot is duplicated. Thanks
I mean for this bout of voting I was grouping them in because their gods are the same except different names
But look out for the mythborne coming out soon.
its ok no worries. Its your thing. And I’m sure it’ll be great
Alr thx time to get writing
So the Greco/roman Mythborne will be separated into three categories, Olympian Blooded, Titan Blooded, and Underworldblooded. These three categories will house the subraces.
An I have a prototype ready for review
Greco-Roman Mythborne Descendants of the gods of Olympus, Titans, and the Underworld, the Greco-Roman Mythborne carry the divine essence of their celestial ancestors. Their appearances often reflect their heritage, with physical traits or subtle auras that mirror the deities they descend from....
Have you ran everything through DB?
Yep and it looks pretty balanced. Granted I would like outside perspective
Because 1 set of eyes is always biased
Well everyone I have been hunched over a computer typing out everything the Mythborne race is completed.
Here is the updated version
Mythborne (Greco-Roman) Race Overview:The Greco-Roman Mythborne are beings who trace their lineage directly to the Olympian gods and Titans. Each sub-race reflects the power and personality of a specific deity, with divine gifts manifesting from a young age and intensifying as they grow. Myth...
How come the greek ones have features as if they were a class
doesnt that eat a lot of DB budget
Idk I just like it
And plus i want them to feel like they are born of mythological beings.
yeah sorry, that's not how races work
am going to bed now, can check the specifics tomorrow
being mythical doesn't justify breaking the rules
Dang ok I will fix
It's a neat idea but unless you are going for races as classes it doesn't really work.
Give me maybe a day or two and they will be fixed
Roger that.
Some races do have leveled abilities, but it's usually in the form of a feat I believe.
The ones that do have leveled abilities it's a one-two punch line I think.
Like you can cast gust, at this level you can do x.
Or it just gives the feature more uses.
I'm really against racial feats
feats are a reward for experience and accomplishement, not being born special
Being against them doesn't change the fact that they exist and are a entirely fair balancing mechanism for something that may or may not grow with you
for example dragonborn I feel does this quite well.
Personally I am a big fan racial feats, they can really spice a race up.
they exist
not really, were more of an XGE side project that was discarded post-Tashas
fair balancing mechanism
no reason not to open it to all races
may or may not grow with you
holds true for everything
Did fizbans come out before or after tasha?
after
ah yes, the dragon book added dragon feats
Those are what I was referring to
That's what I mean though
for the sake of a mythical content pack they could have feats
for that entire group, not just Zeus gets lightning
So really, I do agree with you but also believe it doesn't hurt to have a couple unique ones
like for every 4, have one unique one for that category.
that's completely separate
which, on that front, I would agreed is a fine addition
Ok all <@&634107343180660739> this will be a compromise for this argument, I will make a feat for these races(it will be kinda like Strike of the Giants from Bigsby's Guide to Giants) however the pre-requisite will be your character to be abt lvl 4-5, and also gaining an ability of said level that will allow you to go through a different challenge to obtain this feat for free, so it is earned.
<@&634107343180660739>
Sorry it said it didn't work on my end apologies, also I hope this solves this argument in my forum lol
Alright so I have revamped the formatting and splitting it into mythologies, so right now we have the Greco Roman mythborne and the new feat "Gift of the Olympians"
