I’ve been playing Off The Grid since pretty much the start, August 2024, and sunk about 200 hours into the game by the end of that year. I’ve always paid for OTG Pro and just enjoyed collecting skins and items from passes and hex crates.

Back in October 2024, I found out about the Convict Set. I searched everywhere - Discord, Reddit - looking for info, but no official word from the devs said it was a limited early-access-only item or that it would come back later. The community basically accepted it was super rare and not coming back.

So I spent tons of time and items to get the Convict chest rig from the market, feeling proud I had something really rare and earned with effort.

In 2025, I played way less but kept my subscription. I didn’t follow any chat about re-releasing those items between March and May because I didn’t even know it was happening.

Then, just recently, after pioneers got access to the OpenSea market, I started looking into it and doing some research. That’s when I asked about the Convict Set’s value—and got hit with the news it’s going to be re-released. That basically kills what made it special.

Questions to Gunzilla:

  • If you knew these items were given out due to a bug or “early-access special,” why did you keep quiet for over half a year?
  • Didn’t you realize this made people spend time and money chasing what they thought were unique rewards?
  • When you reintroduced old weapons, you marked them “Legacy” or “Retro.” Why not do the same for Convict Set and Zippermouth Mask?
  • Early players got rewarded for being pioneers—but reissuing these items makes that pointless. Why take away value from us who stuck with the game since the beginning?

We’re asking for honesty and respect for the original rarity of these items. Please think twice before re-releasing Convict Set and Zippermouth Mask - or at least give them a special something if you do.

As for Legacy and Retro weapons it wasnt an accidental drop or a bug, like Pioneer they were early weapons

so the play was accumulate Legacy/Retro and Pioneer as they were confirmed to never return, and to stay away from Convict

I don’t know the moment when those items were minted first time but it was in range of August-October. March is 5 months later and by my research its first time there was any info about rerelease leaving players for this long without any information

You aren’t the only one who has bought non exclusives and then found out later they aren’t rare, this is why we study.

It’s always been communicated otg pro packs aren’t coming back and BP stuff is exclusive and some are reserved for hex pulls.

So to assume a random item like Convict is rare, is a fault of your own, which is neither one of those, nor was it ever released.

I was telling people long before march convict will come back. I can bring the receipts if you don’t believe me

BP stuff is not exclusive cuz like u said u can get them via hexes making it bad investment. The only exclusive items are from otg pro packs.

Seems like u speculated accurately and i don't need any proof for that but still u wasn't sure until march. They left people with speculation for so long. Back then because lack of information i didnt know it was a bug - just found it was possible to get from hexes from short time and its not possible to get it anymore.

Weapons retro and legacy version was a workaround. They could just make it standard but gave it a name ribbon

You should remove zippermouth from the subject. Nobody has said anywhere that it is coming back. They were clear on the convict gear. Grouping these items together seems like a misrepresentation on your behalf.

There is a post by Decrypt from March 8th, which quotes Theodore Agranat (Director of Web3 at Gunzilla Games) saying that the studio “reserves the right” to release items that were never “officially released.” In their definition, “officially released” means being added to the battle pass, a monthly content pack, or a special campaign. Convict gear is mentioned directly in that context.

But right before that, the article says:

Thought to be even rarer, however, is the Convict gear and Zippermouth Mask that were available to extract via hexes for a short period of time. The community believes that these are the rarest items in the game, with only 300 of each ever minted. That’s not to mention the possible increased rarity of an item based on its serial number.

So even though Zippermouth isn’t explicitly stated in the same sentence about re-release rights, it is grouped together with Convict in the same paragraph and under the same circumstances—both obtainable via hexes for a short period. That means it logically falls under the same category of “never officially released” items and is at risk of re-release too.

And if, for some reason, Zippermouth is actually a completely different case and will never return, then I would double down on my main point: there is still a huge communication problem. Both sets were obtainable in exactly the same way and left without any official information for the same amount of time—yet one is now devalued and the other potentially rewarded. That inconsistency makes no sense and only adds to the frustration.

I dont disagree, anything can happen, we are on early access. That said, this entire thread is based off one person's interpretation on an article based off an authors opinion which isn't based upon any fact. The only official statement referenced by the team and quoted in the article is on the topic about one item ( convict ) , which is being applied to another item (zipper). Just another example of internet misinformation broken telephone. Someone shared an opinion and another takes it as fact and perpetuates.

First, you make an unjustified and highly risky trade move, then you look for external reasons to avoid taking personal responsibility—this is a typical wooly situation.

If you don’t have confirming information, you can’t be sure of the opposite—otherwise, it’s self-deception.

Since you’ve put yourself in this position, just make a responsible decision: either you hold and hope that the drop will be limited and significant, or you sell this junk, then study the in-game assets and make a responsible, well-reasoned move.

And there is still no information directly so all I want is the response from the team. One item is chosen to be reminted and other stays and is marked as legacy or retro. I don’t need to find a reason cuz it’s so obvious. Also they said they want to reward old players and that’s how they want to do. Also with battle pass items that were reminted - I guess I did bad decision by trusting gunzilla cuz the items had to be exclusive and they changed it

Yeah it’s my decision which was wrong by today but looking by prices (I think pioneer items were the same price) everyone were at fault and it’s not because people being stupid it’s just because of no proper information
