Liberty Hexes have proven there is an issue with special events that will limit OTG's reach!

New participants, excited to join in, soon become overwhelmed by the dominance of more skilled teams. The Event becomes unplayable except for those top tier gangs, who guard extractors, farming the less skilled players who are doing all the grinding. This is not great for player retention.

All the elements for extractor drones are already in place:

-hex tracking
-loadin drone flares
-destroyable drones

It'll bring a whole new strategic element to extraction!

How it works:

-Teams need a hex and a hex beacon (think apple tag.) When found these can be combined creating a dispatchable hex.

-Hexes can then be hidden or protected in chosen areas and primed ready for pick up.

-drones swoop in, extracting hex. But they remain available for interception whilst within the active combat zone. (you could even have a control mode. where a player can put on cloaked FPV googles that allow them to switch to flying the drone off in first person. the cloak aspect making it harder to find the pilot but still leaving them vulnerable whilst flying the drone off the island!!!?)

-Making the beacons a rare item drop service, stops it from being overused and keeps the utility of the main hex extractors.

Why this would be good!

Firstly it's a great nod to Technocore the original app. (This is basically what you're doing when playing as the drone.)

It stretches the capabilities of those that currently gatekeep extractors. Do they stay at the main extractor? or do they leave with a race against time to find and intercept the pick up? If they stay they have no chance of an interception. If they leave the hex extractor is left unguarded. (Strategy becomes as important as merely mastering movement)

It gives newer players a chance to use organisation, speedy actions, and stealthy hide and seek tactics to counter getting beamed every time by the more experienced teams.

I think adding tiers to ranking system would solve this issue. Only join lobbies of same tier rank. Noobs with noobs. Sweats with sweats.

They don't seem to want to do that though, or separate console from PC? Not sure if it's a numbers thing with regard to active players or what? The suggestion above adds to the game though and means that it's not all about memorising weapon stats and mastering movement, which if we're being honest makes the whole thing a bit 1 dimensional and repetitive.
