When you start the process of putting the hex in you should be immune from attack. the hex campers will at least have to stop the extraction before gaining the spoils

So I've heard u gotta do a little check around the area before you just willy nilly put it in. Checking for enemy's nearby would then eliminate the campers killing you if they were there in wait. U could fight for the extractor or just dip to a different one. But up to u at the end of the day.
