#For the love of GOD change the FOV back to how it was. The camera is way too zoomed in.

Fr It feels like you’re piggyback riding your character 🤣

Sprinting with old FOV 5 Months ago + 1440x1080 res + AspectRatio_MaintainXFOV config
(Base of ~65 Vertical FOV + base of default 80 Horizontal FOV)
Sprinting with “new” FOV @ 1920x900 + default AspectRatio_MaintainYFOV [config disabled can’t change to XFOV]
(Base of default ~40 something Vertical FOV + 1920x900 provides increased horizontal FOV to an approximate value of 96~)
This is the example where you can see what you’re doing and feel less nauseated and less disoriented due to an unidentifiable sniper scope being forced on the player at all times. (and sprinting just makes it worse due to Sprint FOV Reduction)
It’s not perfect but it’s dramatically less disorienting for the player.
Higher FOV would mean:
-
better situational awareness for the player
(helps address positional audio complaints + helps address complaints of being suddenly third partied by another player. Complaints like these relate to audio, TTK, SBMM/Skillgap, balance of movement cyberlimbs.) -
Increased Player’s self positional awareness
(As the player moves around the environment, during engagements where their focus in the center of the screen, they may find themselves performing varied actions like jetpack flight, falling and shooting, jumping around and shooting. Due to significantly low FOV, the player may unintentionally fall onto an object or jump into/onto a surface, potentially damaging the player or disrupting their crosshair placement as they read their own movement and the targets. Higher FOV here greatly decreases the likelihood of clunky interactions with the environment and movement) -
Significantly less difficult to keep targets on screen.
(The game has great verticality in its environment and utilities. It’s easy for a player to lose sight of another player with many utilities such as Leapers and Hammerhead allowing a player to shoot up into the air. This can be disorienting due to the low vertical FOV. This situation affects all skill levels but has a compounded impact on new players and below average skill players.) -
Contributes to feeling faster when FOV is high instead of feeling slower when FOV is low.
(Helps to address movement speed complaints that are prominent in the community right now) -
Higher FOV prevents disorienting the player.
(This is a big one for player retention and especially new player “impression to retention ratios”. You want the new player to avoid becoming overwhelmed and able to learn how entities in the environment are able to move and interact. Having them be so zoomed in greatly reduces their ability to adapt and absorb knowledge of the new title, and causes them to feel frustrated and cheated due to being overwhelmed by engagements. ) -
Considers the health and ability for users affected by motion sickness, vertigo and
Low FOVs.

Agreed. Bump. We need a higher fov
I do agree that there needs to be atleast an option to change the FOV
100% needed in a game like this with such varying verticality in map and engagements + must be accessible to all platforms
Absolutely, the camera at the moment seems to be janky
Rather have this fov than what we have now or at least give us this as an option, it's already in game but only when I spectate someone
Agree this perspective is better
Pretty sure you can still change aspect ratio— just not by adding one of your/an additional file.
Yes that’s what I’m doing by using the res of 1920*900, but you can’t instruct the game to use AspectRatio_MaintainXFOV (instead of Maintain_YFOV) and then use a stretch res to increase Vertical FOV anymore.
You can use whatever Aspect Ratio altering resolutions that you like, but you can only gain horizontal FOV, not vertical.
I see. I have side by side shots from today of different aspect ratios with all other settings constant. Seems to be doable but maybe my eyes are playing tricks on me.
I just wish there was a way of doing that on my PS5 🙃
Never stop jetpacking and you will have decent FOV

That's too much character. A third of the screen is crazy.
Any updates on when we will have FOV slider?
I enjoyed the FOV settings from the beginning of early access. Not sure why they are going around fixing so many things that weren’t broken but I guess that’s what video games are made for.
I never got to experience the FOV at early access first start
Who knows i try to comment in here to help bump the posts and they just get removed now.
Especially for a movement-based game with aerial combat. It feels like an unnecessary handicap. And with the ttk this low, if you can't see clearly, one small flank or 3rd party will immediately scuff what could have been a dynamic sequence. With more visibility, we can consistently read the playing field.
I absolutely agree with you
yes
This. The 3rd partying from stuff you can't see is rough.
Did they add it?
Yet
FOV? Is that the surprise feature? 👀
Or am I going to be disappointed
Every time a new player joins the game they say "why is the camera so zoomed in like this, I dont like this FOV." Then they go back and play fortnite.
Yep! The game needs players, expecting everyone to invest in an expensive monitor for 32:9 when they don't have to in other games is just delulu with no solulu
Using ultrawide monitors or resolutions doesn’t actually address the low vertical FOV which is the big issue unfortunately.
What is the way foward? if you were a dev right... what moves would you make?
make fov big number
that's enough kombucha lol
Here is old gameplay of what it used to be like for reference. It was a beautiful FOV. Now its awkward and zoomed in https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Etfk5LbiQ6Q
Appreciate you all for the feedback ✍️
Just give an FOV scale like every other game has...
Just an FOV slider is all we want or a revert would work for now 🙂
we understand youre all busy and things take time
🍻 🎉
Out of town, so I haven’t tried it yet. Based on years of shooters, this seems like a stealth nerf to skill gap, who woulda thought?
