If for an example in game via looting you pick up an epic terikon or epic runners and the loadout you've called is for example all common or a mixture or rarities all below epic...that epic terikon or rrs should not be over written by anything of lesser quality.

The current workaround this is to drop the limb or gun you want to keep, equip loadout then go back to the dropped gear.

The other solution, which would probably be better, is to let players be able to pick up whatever is removed after equipping a loadout, currently majority of the old stuff just disappears.

Ive never seen the old gear disappear unless you are inside the grid....

It does, not everything is left behind after the loadout crate disappears

I call loadout every single game and I've never had an item disappear that I was wear, simply fall on the ground.

Now with that said I have had items fall partially INTO the ground. Maybe that's what's happening to you?
