I already have an account, so the reward really doesn't make any sense for me anymore, but imma answer for fun.

I got into cyber security because of... An ad on YouTube! Which you probably would guess guardio, and it is. Since some dodgy websites I accessed before guardio blocked it, which got me wondering, what are these "dodgy files" which leads me tampering, and that's how my path got in with cyber security and ofc any.run when I just dump the executable onto any.run and see what exactly is happening behind the scenes

I got into cyber security because I accidentally looked at porn while connected to my university VPN and then I ended up on some kind of list and they put fake students in my classes who are really feds and they hacked my devices.

I got into cybersecurity because of my time at school. they had sh*t windows 7 pentium PCs and lots of nasty worms in them lol. I set them all up and cleaned them up, networked them well and did some security configurations and the teachers, they were thrilled and wanted me to join student council. I went in and never looked back.

There was once a situation when my friend who is studying at the university to become a cybersecurity specialist, he really did not have enough time to do one task related to reverse engineering, he had to disassemble programs and compare different codes on assembly, I learned the basics of assembler in one evening and was able to help him do the task on time and get a good grade, although I myself am not very good at this topic, I think I should study this topic further

I got into cybersecurity because I was always curious about how things worked and sometimes, how they didn’t. When I was younger, I’d spend hours playing around with software, trying to figure out ways to get past restrictions. At first, it was just for fun. But eventually, I realized there was a whole world behind those little discoveries. A world that needed protection.

One moment that really pushed me into cybersecurity was when a friend got caught by a phishing scam. It seemed like such a small thing, yet it caused a lot of damage. Seeing that made me want to understand how these attacks happen and, more importantly, how to stop them. That’s when I started learning about ethical hacking and the mindset of attackers. The more I learned, the more I wanted to help defend others.

These days, I’m passionate about finding vulnerabilities and helping secure systems. Cybersecurity keeps me on my toes there’s always a new challenge, something new to explore. And that’s what makes it so exciting to me.

My cybersecurity after helping my friend with some malware. My first solution for malware was installing kaspersky running other scanners and that's all, that was kinda stupid i know but after some time of learning i started analyzing malware, analyzing how that particular thing works and ofc started using FRST, to help people. I met a lot of cool people during that period of time, some even told me some interesting and personal stories. Somehow i also met someone with wanacry like a year ago, which was weird to me. Now i am passionate about analyzing malware and helping people.

My interest into this field has grown considerably back in 2018.

My company at that time (won't name it due to NDA) was under constant cyber threats, not only DDoS with an income stream of 1TB/s to 2TB/s, which Cloudflare couldn't mitigate without service disruption, but also other type of attacks including impersonation and the theft of backup data from our backup provider.

Back then, I wasn't even in the IT Industry, but the impunity of the aggressors and free movement, really made me want to get into the role of protecting organizations.

I started by doing a practical bootcamp to learn how to code, then I had formal education and now I'm working as a SOC.

Cybersecurity is a very important aspect of any organization, and my desire is to strengthen the systems and their attack surfaces in order to prevent some of the attacks.

But I must say that it's hard if not all users are trained properly to avoid being the target of social engineering.

They impersonated my boss that was the administrator of the backup, with all of his legal documentation provided on the call, and even had his voice on the call.

Any.Run would be able to provide me with better insights of what the malware is stealing and how it is doing it, which can help me minimize the damage or understand a bit what could be their next move with the information they have from that point.

Well it started some years ago, i installed few unknown programs. (lucky they were not malware or infostealer). But yeah i got fair scared and started researching on Reddit and few other platforms. I looked up at thousents of hacked people comments witch caused me anixety fear for months waking up in panic checking login's and emails. As well i didn't have other way to stop my fear so i started learining about it online. I helped my familly to also secure their dervices. I also know somewhat about osint,Linux, attacks, malware, phishing, pwnd etc some more stuff forgot name. Don't think i get any career over it snice i live in small country also failed school but i'm cool with knowing to protect myself and familly.

I was working a job I hated when a friend introduced me to the cybersecurity industry. I did my research, enrolled back in school to pursue a bachelor’s degree with a concentration in cybercrime and fraud investigation, and quickly fell in love with the field. I exposed myself to various aspects of cybersecurity, participated in Capture the Flag (CTF) competitions, and actively joined numerous professional groups to broaden my knowledge and skills.

We started off as a small group of friends who was into video game, we were fooling around at that time, once the game has pushed out its last cannon story mission, we kinda got bored, so we decided to switched to discord raiding server service, but then I got banned from discord. I realized I have potential to make better use of my skills as I grew up rather than for the bads, so I decided to switch to cybersecurity, because technology is advancing so there must be a high interest in those fields for jobs right?

I don't have a job in cyber security.
How I got interested in it, was messing about on the network at the school I went to, and finding problems with it that allowed me to access files I shouldn't have been able to.
I then watched far too much youtube and it is still interesting to me.

I knew that cybersecurity was going to be the field I pursued literally since middle school. From modifying video game saves which seemed like the ultimate hacker man activity at the time to reverse engineering malware samples while being absolutely terrified they might break out of the vm. Went to college to learn more about the development of much of technology we see today and got some cybersecurity certification to fuel the curiosity. Now i’m about to graduate college in 3 days and can’t wait to earn my first position in the industry.

Years ago, one of my previous partners conspired against me and worked with a criminal to rat my PC. Later on, one of my friends talked to me about how they were getting into cybersecurity. So I started studying more about it. Completed the Google certification on Coursera, took part in a bootcamp, and now here I am.

I was interested in low level programming which led my youtube algorihm to recommend me videos from eric parker and low level learning. eric parker used any.run to easily find out, what files the malware creates/writes to and which processes and shell commands it invokes. i thought it was pretty useful so i tried to sign up but failed, because i dont have a school email address (even though i am still in school).

My journey into cybersecurity is an interesting one. I was one of those who felt that all hacking was criminal and that ethical hacking didn't exist.

My best buddy contacted me on behalf of his boyfriend, who had his email account hacked and his identity taken via Twitter. They requested my aid since they were aware of my expertise in information technology.

I told him I'd check into it after searching Google for ways to hack Twitter and Microsoft Outlook, which produced no results because the information we had today was not publicly available.

By changing data, which I was unfamiliar with, I unintentionally interrupted a password recovery tool, forcing it to send an email to an address unconnected to the account, despite the tool's claim that insufficient information had been confirmed.

I was able to restore email access to my friend's boyfriend. He deactivated Twitter, and a few months later, I received a Facebook advertisement for an ethical hacking course on Udemy taught by Zaid Sabin.

I was fascinated by the concept of ethical hacking, so I clicked on the advertisement, which cost around $10 USD. There was no harm in trying, so I decided to learn more about it.

After learning about ethical hacking, I chose to specialise in this sector and pursue a career. I worked as a cybersecurity consultant for three years.

I got into cybersecurity because I’ve always been fascinated by how systems can be broken and rebuilt stronger. What started as curiosity, like tinkering with networks and finding vulnerabilities, quickly turned into a passion for protecting others. A mentor once told me 'If you know how to break it, you’re the best one to secure it.' That stuck with me, and now cybersecurity isn’t just a career, it’s my way of keeping systems resilient and people safe ☺️

I got into cybersecurity as I have always been interested in circumventing rules and restrictions, and by being curious as to how something can be used for something it wasn't intended (old school definition of hacking).
Such as modifying my save games in Diablo 1 or Baldurs Gate in a hex editor. Then I had a server compromised, that was used for stealing paypal credentials by hosting a phishing website - which piqued my interest in web security (or lack thereof). I then joined various IRC channels related to "hacking", started trying to do challenges online and later started doing CTFs. 10-15 years later I started working with IT professionally gradually moving to defensive security, and 15-20 years later I took a bachelor in IT Security - now I've been fiddling with DFIR for the past 5 years.

I got into cyber security by looking around at the source code of my school's website and seeing how insecure it was. And of course as my interest peaked, I hacked it, which was shockingly easy 😂

Then I got more on the defensive part of cyber security after my mom got a phishing SMS and got robbed about 300$ which was a wake up call to me to how essential is securing our digital life.

I got into cybersecurity via a CTF challenge at my job. They asked if I ever did memory forensics and I said no but I’ll try.

So they gave me the challenge with 5 questions and I returned with more than they asked and that was my entryway 💪🔥

My journey into cybersecurity began with a childhood fascination with hacking, sparked by playing Minecraft and exploring the technical side of gaming. As I grew older, that interest faded, but it was reignited in high school when I had the opportunity to participate in the Danish High School Cybersecurity Championship. That experience not only reawakended my passion for cybersecurity but also opened my eyes to the vast and exciting opportunities in the field. Since then, I’ve been fully committed to diving deeper into this fascinating world
