I know u guys are aiming for a proper rework in a major expansion pack a few years down the line, but I feel like there are a couple of fixes that you can implement in right away in 1.2/1.3 that would significantly improve the gameplay without making u do too much work that would be than supplanted by a proper rework anyway:
- Limit the number of colonial nations to one per AREA. The AI should aim to create one subject per area unless its at diplo limit or something. Right now it creates one per region causing massive waste since the nation can maybe extend control to 1/10 of that territory
- Add a diplomatic interaction to subsume one colonial nation into another, as long as they are in the same region. Maybe make it cost a little bit of relations with other CNs, or require at least 50% loyalty, or both
- Block CNs from colonizing other regions (other areas in the same region is fine). Maybe add a diplo interaction to explicitly allow a CN to colonize other regions if u arent too concerned about bloat/wanna signal the player that CNs wont colonize other regions otherwise
- BLOCK CNS WITH THE SAME OVERLORD FROM FIGHTING WARS WITH ONE ANOTHER. The transfer locations between subjects is useless since all it does is give the cn a reclaim cores cb on its former territories causing endless wars and pop loss across colonies
- Moving CN's capitals should either not cost stability/prestige, or AT LEAST should scale with the size of the CN.
- Similarly, moving or destroying markets should scale with their size. Why does it cost me 20 stab and 7.5 presige to delete the east falklands market whose entire GDP is 3 gold that the game has spawned for some reason even though i already have a market on Tierra del Fuego
- please please please dont drag the overlord automatically into every rebellion that happens in Mexico. This shoudl be a regular call to war which the overlord can refuse, not forced. Ive spent 90% gamepaly being at war cuz some random OPM rebelled in Peru.
