It still compiles without issue when doing it though powershell (uses visual studio) So you can compile fine on windows using visual studio but you can't compile when you try remote debugging through wsl? Do I understand you correctly here?

nvm. found a solution. seems to have been some sort of wsl thing. built fine on raw linux
