#class items

On that note, how will the itemization be handled in that regard? I am all for class specific gear for certain slots but having them always be BIS and available for every slot... Not so much.
Also what about drop rates? I dislike the Diablo 3/4 approach where gear only drops for your class and extremely rare to find gear good for another char or class. I loved the feeling of having a nice item drop and theory crafting an alt from it.
currently only planning one* class specific base item per class. * that is to say, one line of such items, such as daggers for the witch.
currently, drops are not biased towards the class you’re playing, but we may decide to bias them to a small degree if we feel it’s necessary. in terms of general philosophy, we think it’s important for the long term health of the game that you find items for other classes and builds as you play as it encourages trying new builds and/or trading
It also gives you a larger drop pool. Then you aren't feeling like the same 'Unique' item drops all the time. Seems like an oxymoron.
What about the ability to fashion class specific items instead of dropping them in most cases? Like making a dagger out of a short sword or spear.
that’s beyond the scope of the crafting system that’s been specced out at this point (we’re still working on the basics). but it’s an intriguing idea, as is the inverse (taking a class specific dagger and turning it into a spear). any such transformations would have to be carefully constrained, but the idea has some very interesting potential that i’d be excited to explore
