#Evolving Pokémon or Catching them Evolved?

Evolving does give a main skill increase and carry limit increase
However some mons don't really care about main skill level
And when you consider leveling requirements, its not terrible to use some preevolved mons
Overall, the pokemon that suffer more from being caught evolved are ingredient mons since expanded inventory space is useful and cannot be compensated.
Skill mon (and berry mons) loose on one level of skill, but that can be compensated if necessary with a Main skill seed so the damage is reversible.
If you are aiming with a berry mon with a non gamechanging skill there is virtually no downside to catching the evolved mon
My main concern is biscuit cost. Pre-evolved pokemon are much cheaper to catch so you can check their skills/nature before investing candy to evolve and level up. Sure, if there's a hungry evo pokemon, they are likely getting my bonus biscuit, though.
just to post here but in case anyone is interested i was just looking into the cost of the level difference between first evo and second evo.
let's say you catch 1st stage evo at lvl 10 and 2nd stage evo at lvl 15. that's 1976exp difference which is equivalent to 80 candies. i'm not sure exactly how the level difference is determined, and if the exp difference will increase with research rank meaning
for non-f2p players, the cost to buy 80 candies with dream points is 2000 (handy candy M x 4) which is more expensive than a main skill seed. however, the main skill seed is only 1x per month so you may want to use it on other mons.
so i think the main concern for me would be +5 inventory lost (more important for some pokemon than others) and the biscuit efficiency to catch it.
lastly should also consider your friendship level. if you are already at friendship lvl 10 on the first stage evo you are no longer able to get white/silver quality subskills at lvl10. so it could actually be beneficial for skill/ingredient mons to catch the 2nd stage evo at that point.
