#How do you judge if a mon is worth investing candies and levels in?

Theres no definitive answer.
Its really a combination of:
Nature,main skill, sub skills.
And even sometimes ingredients can be the decisive factor.
Best is if you have doubts of a few pkmns you have now is to ask in here.
Ok, I posted in another thread just now but for the sake of exposure ill pop them in here too
I think these guys are decent? But again hard time telling haha hence the question
The spheal has a 2x rawst berry, so I figured it might shine if leveled when Snorlax loves rawsts?
So there's a couple factors to help:
Skill rarity. White, blue, and yellow skills. Common, uncommon, rare. Blue and yellow skills. Usually the more blue/yellow on a mon the better. These aren't always a deal breaker if you have a mix of whites with your yellows and blues since there are sub skill seeds that can upgrade the quality of the skills (like white small skills to mediums) but usually the more blue yellow the better.
What type of specialist is the mon. berry mons gather two berries at a go and ingredient mons gather multiple ingredients in one go. Skill mons are weird and case by case basis. This only matters a little as far as evaluation goes, but like inventory up is awesome for berry/ingredient specialists with good frequency.
Nature. Is the nature beneficial. Energy gain or exp gain are really whatever, but something like gathering up is awesome or gathering down hurts. These don't make or break if the mon has good skills but if a mon has meh skills this can be a death sentence. Some mons might prefer different natures depending on how the rest of their kit looks but you want stuff that helps the pokemons main goal.
These are like what most people look at when judging effectiveness
Ahhh that all makes sense. I haven’t really been classifying them as very type vs ingredients type for instance
gulpin is decent. Main skill isnt something that affects your snorlax so its nice in the long run but not in early game. Worth keeping
spheal the nature hurts because of the main skill. sub skills decent for a berry finder.
The growlithe is a solid one, can find better ones but would be a good addition for a long time till you find something better.
theres a bit of a discussion and research going on regarding energy.
imo bad natures are the ones wich decreases the main skill to trigger or decreases ingredient finding.
Pokemons you want for berry finding the subskill berry finding would be awesome. Ofcourse having that unlocked at level 100 would be painful.
Berry and ingredient finding pokemon with multiple inventory subskills are nice. More so that you wont have to constantly check the game to claim berries/ingredients.
Hmmmm good point
Well cool it looks like I have a couple decent mons at least! Thanks everyone for all the help!
I’ll keep an eye out on how I can balance these when I’m lookin at stats!
We still doesn’t know for sure since the game its still new and our minds will change but for now we are looking at subskills, specially the ones that we will get earlier and on the job that the pokemon could end doing
For now it’s important too to balance berries and ingredients and matching the berries and foods that Snorlax wants. Having good subskills like helping bonus, the one that gives an extra berry or the ones that increases exp at level 10 or even 25 will help a lot too
But of course there are others that will be good depending on the other subskills and on what the pokemon will be best at
I will say I rate berry bonus SSS+ tier as a skill for anything that is not a berry specialist (still goated on berry specialists though and top tier there) just because the diifference between 1 and 2 berries is massive. Especially on stuff like larvitar line, mankey, or whathav you that either have good frequency or evolve to good frequency berry bonus is such a good skill
Idk how it will end up long term but it will be good at minimum
Best skill at this stage of the game imo
Yes, it makes Berry Specialists better and other specialists becomes berry specialists
Helping hand looks really good too, other of the best skills to have
And the sleep shard bonus and both of the sleep exp when sleeping are nice to have too, but the last ones deppends on if we hit the cap or on how fast we raise our mons
