I am utterly confused on what I am doing to split the path like this. I just somehow made the Y branch work, but now I cant continue the right side of the Y branch. its like the path is stuck connected to either the start of the Y, or the end of the finished branch. and I cant continue it from the right branch Please someone tell me I am just being dumb idk whats going on

Accidentally deleted the entire path I was making cause I tried pressing E to extrude, that was not it, matter of fact it glitched it, and ctrl+z did not undo it instead undid all my previous lines, and ctrl+y did not redo my lines.
Nothing here is glitched, everything you mentioned sounds like user error
In particular, you selected an earlier node by clicking on it, thus adding points after that earlier node
And for the "glitching it to remove all lines", that's what happens when you undo while no point is selected
Im still confused. but I will take the user error answer Im trying to learn still lol
How do I select a node to start from thats the main problem I am having, I somehow just pulled it off again but after placing the new branch it stays conected to the middle node
Thats fair, but then how am I doing what I took a picture of
I think the pictures dont help I am referencing the first picture the first picture, how I am somehow creating a standalone path from the middle node
oh I see whats going on
ur right I somehow made a second node in the exact center of the middle node so it looked like a branch, I have no idea how I managed to pull that off
that explains the ctrl z problem I had. very much user error.
that was a very frustrating user error on my part. I couldnt see the second node I made because it overlapped perfectly, I counted the nodes and it was +1 then it should have been, I feel so dumb
