the mods latest release
so its a ready to run
no like from this
@sweet imp -- sorry, i'm a bit confused, too. this is effectively a mod for a port we never released?
download the port file first and download the mod itself
wdym?
is this a half life 2 mod?
okay cool. Then I think you need to make the instructions clearer. Like --
- grab the half life mod here: https://portmaster.games/detail.html?name=half-life
- ... next step ...
Also: how is this different for anybody just adding the mod themselves (like, waht special things have you done to the files)?
thank you so much man
From what I can understand, these are two new .sh files. Along with some mod files?
Do you have permission to distribute the mod files? Does the license permit us distributing the mod files?
wait, how can i get permission then. i do this in my free time and open source. and i thought that it does not have to do with license or something like that .
Did you create the mods?
Did the people who created the mods permit others to repackage and distribute them elsewhere?
Look, I'm not saying you're intentionally doing something wrong 🙂
But there are some important things PortMaster must consider --
- Can we distribute the work of others?
- If not, we can advise users to grab and add the files manualy.
But then there's another question:
If these are just mod files, should we package them as separate ports? Where do you intend to head with this?
Like, if the user just needs to add RUNMOD="-game echoes" to the .sh and manually add some files, should we be making new ports?
This is why PortMaster doesn't typically do mods. Instead, we often include instructions with existing games (Doom, etc.) so users can add their own mods. In some instances (see Darkplaces), we may bundle .sh files and include instructions to manually add game files.
no made this like a patch
there are no mods file
in it
only the file to run like half life did
I think it's best to chat with @unique ore (who did the Half Life port) to determine how best to approach this 🙂
so does it oke to distribute
i put in only the dlls, ect file and a sh file with some config in it
i think i must rewrite the read me
If it's your work, you can distribute. If it's the work of others (or integrates that of others), we need to show we can do it.
In other words: licenses with express permission are required for anything another author/creator can claim.
(I don't know where you got these DLLs from? The .sh would be fine)
i compiled it
using the source code
check the license in the source
sorry this is my first time porting things
It's fine. Just track down the licenses and review those. If they permit us to distribute, you must include the license files.
oke

from a .cfg file. again, check the licenses
how about now does it better
so how do i install these i read the readme but im still confused
can you use the new one ?
the zip you just uploaded?
yes
ill try
does it work?
ive not tried it yet but do i still need blue shift and opposing force
Wdym you need?
this is from the first rar you posted "Install this mods on top of the xash3d port (half life 1).Make sure to install
blue shift and opposing force first, when but the mods file in the port YOU MUST NOT
REPLACE ANY THING"
so all i need is the half life port working
and i just put the mod folders in the halflife port folder
Let me know if you need help
Does the port work well?
Any performance issues?
Adding the folders to my Half Life portfolder alongside folders like bshift, gearbox, etc then using Echoes.sh & Field Itensity.sh did not work to launch
Pretty sure you need to have the binaries in their own folder with the ither binaries
You need to post instructions on your first post above explaining EXACTLY where to put everything inside the half life portfolder so that it runs
@dull coral here
