New Port: Forager

Instructions:
Download the linux version of forager from steam: https://store.steampowered.com/app/751780/Forager/
Run steam console via Windows+R: Type: steam://open/console, download the linux version by typing: download_depot 751780 751783 3324194938480079153 in the console, when the download is complete, it will tell you the location of the folder, copy all files from /assets to /ports/forager/gamedata

Forager is a 2D open world game inspired by exploration, farming and crafting games such as Stardew Valley, Terraria & Zelda!

Note: Thus is Linux version 2.0.4 which is not as up to date as the windows version. Only Steam version works.

Controls:
D-pad/L-stick = Movement
A = Spin
X = Run
Start = Pause/Menu

Unfortunately gmloader-next is not yet ready to be used for ports. IMHO games with big version differences should be on the backburner until it is.

Welp, I'm a dork - I knew I owned Forager and finally got around to checking if it worked on my X55... and then I realized when the console command failed that I own it on Playstation... facepalm
But I also noticed it seemed to require the manifest ID, so I'll paste that here at least so maybe I'll save someone the digging later...

correct me if i'm wrong but the moment any of these handhelds get proton they really won't need portmaster at all. heck the won't even need wine either 😄 they'll just run windows games nativelly instead.

it's better than wine that translates directX calls to vulkan (or opengl, right?) calls directly so yea, it kinda runs/emulates windows games nativelly better than wine/crossover does it. then again, i'm wondering if crossover is just macos-exclusive 🤔

not to mention its designed to work with full desktop environments, i think the graphic drivers we have working are unlikely to have high compatibility. Wayland, X, OpenGL, Vulkan. IDK if any of that even makes sense, but there . Even the BOX projects are using a full linux DE with window management &c for their test cases, we can't get half the stuff to work that the larger BOX project can

Played for a few hours on TSP crossmix and it worked well

is there a way to turn down the sensitivity on the joysticks a little because sometimes I start randomly walking or my arrow flies off to the right

So I have gotten really far in this game. It runs without ever crashing. But I can only suggest if there are ways to patch it in anyway to lessen its need for ram, It'd be beneficial. I tried it specifically on my x55 for the extra gig and when it rains and a lot of animations are happening, it slows down quite a bit. So any tricks you might know to help it run smoothly I think are very needed.

I did. It doesn't help unfortunately. Was hoping it would. Uts too bad there's no options to turn off the effects on the screen like the clouds and rain.

So I'm VERY far in to the game now. With Quarrys overwhelming an entire plot of land with ores, I can attest that it gets to running REALLY SLOW when there's that much on yhe screen. This is RK3566 as well. If you can think of a way for it to handle it or can reduce somehow its processing needs, I'd day once you're way down in the game, its playable, for sure. I'm just having a fair few instances of major slow downs. I imagine RP5 can handle no problem

So I literally have the Demon Pickaxe, Crystal Sword and Robotic Shovel. 35/45 lands bought, my device died midplay, and now when I go to press Play, where it opens to the 3 save game files, it just crashes and sends me back to ES Ports.

@fleet frost any idea what to do? Just open and see if my Sav files gone? I don't know how I can launch the game, get to the menu, open extras, Info and everything else fine. But only crash once I press "PLAY".

welp, when i remove everything form my saves folder, it launches with 3 NEWE GAME files. I cant fucking believe i just lost my entire progress. i had 25 hours into it.

ive got a savefile1.txt, savefile1bak.txt and a saveimage1.png both txt files are 0kb

noticing now that it created savefile0.txt and savefile0bak.txt also a the png upon starting a new game. These are 3kb. somehow the device dying corrupted my files. I've had my device die on me while playing forager like 5 times. this is the first time that i've lost my progress though. SUCH a bummer..
