Pythagoras of Samos was an Ionian Greek mathematician, philosopher, and founder of Pythagoreanism. He is often revered as a great mystic, mathematician, and scientist, but he is best known for his Pythagorean theorem. Based on the work of Aristotle, the Pythagorean theorem was one of the first widely studied advances in mathematics.
