Good afternoon everyone. I have been thinking for a while how to solve a simple problem:
- There are great bots in the top 100, it is beyond doubt (I know the creators and their work) BUT I have seen many bots in the top 500 that should be in the top 100 and bots in the top 100 that should not be there.
I know that time and interest puts bots in a more deserved place, but it is tied to trends and those trends come and go: sometimes neither the bots nor the creators get fair recognition for their accomplishments unless they keep spamming their creations over and over again. I think this would be improved if there was a system for giving a score and critique / review to the bots, with the goal of:
- Recognize quality over trends. A bot may not be in the top 100, but at least people can point out that it is good, encouraging others to try it.
- Detect fraud / bad practices; we can "flag" bots that are likely to have lower quality than expected in the rank they are in.
- Incentivize creators to keep improving their creations. We can support encouraging improvements and provide suggestions from the user's perspective. Scoring / review should be allowed to change, allowing the creator to improve without being punished in the process.
What do you think?
