#Other Weapon Types

I’ve seen a few different complaints about combat and how long swings take or how repetitive combat can be. Personally, I enjoyed combat in the first mine. But at some point during the second mine, I stopped enjoying combat.

The staff is a slower weapon type in most games. I admire that it’s not a “killing” weapon and that we don’t use meat for anything and don’t fight anything that is actually alive, just elementally animated objects.

There are already bows, as evidenced by the archery targets at Drak’s house (and weapon racks which may include swords). Honestly, when I started playing the game I thought that we would unlock other weapon types so that combat could encompass multiple play styles.

I recognize that the spells we unlock add flavors to the combat, but they aren’t really… play styles that can stand alone.

I have no idea how multiple weapons would be incorporated. Maybe you would have to equip a weapon in your character gear menu and the weapon’s magic-associated abilities would be mapped the same as the staff’s spells are.

I would just love to see a little more variety in combat, and especially something faster. What I liked about combat is that I have high mobility with my wings and in the first mine I could eventually jump around and whack things without getting hit.

A polearm would be amazing, or even a fishing spear (which would work really well if we are going into a water area, next, or even just sailing after we perhaps repair and claim Eddy’s ship). A pair of work gloves for a close-combat approach could also be interesting, though a polearm is what I’d consider most viable (because it would add range, be a little faster than the staff hopefully, and be good for crowd control).

Thank you for your time 😊

… I’ve seen complaints about combat on Reddit, especially the three-hit combo, so I’m sincerely surprised that no one has reacted to this
