The storage is "nearly" unlimited. They had to set a limit but it is something like 999'999 slots. I'm currently in Winter year one and never even thought about space in my storage shed/house storage.
Did you encounter any messages telling you the storage is full? Because normally it just adds/removes spaces based on what you put into storage.

I'm planning on looking into it when I get off of work. I thought I'd gotten a message but I could have just noticed that the spaces were full and thought it was full in response. I'm gong to try to add more things when I get off.
