I'm trying to make a displacement for a hill, but I need it to wrap around this sewer pipe thats sticking through it. This is my first project in Hammer and is meant for Day of Defeat Source. Every time I try to vertex manipulate (I'm bad at it) I create invalid shapes or it won't sew to my surrounding displacements. Please help a newbie out!
#How to Make Angled Displacement Around a Sewer Pipe

one of these 2 ways I guess
depending on how it would sew to the adjacent disps
u can also give yourself some freedom by giving it a concrete sort of shell, which I feel like would only make sense there
like this
if the 3x3 doesn't work you can do 4x4 with 2 wide gap, then it will sew
even displacements of different powers will sew if theyre aligned correctly, the higher power will just interpolate
Problem is, the sewer is not centered in my displacement. It actually is a crouch-walkable tunnel into a structure as well, which is why I need the displacements not to clip into it. I did use your concrete idea and got it somewhat to work
you can move the hole with vertex edit
