#See through edges on models that shouldn't be there

not quite sure what tag to give this post, anyway
I made this model shown in the screenshots, it's supposed to be a computer with RGB, and it's unfinished. the lighting is baked and right now it's just using UnlitGeneric temporarily, when it's completed I'll be using LightmappedGeneric with self illum. anyway, on the edges of the model, specifically in the front, you can see through the mesh to the other side where it's lit, and it's very distracting. I made sure to put the parts that are glowing and not glowing separate from each other on the UV map, but that didn't change anything. it's also more noticeable when far away. Is there any way that I can stop the see-through lines from appearing?

It's probably a bad normal

#

Might try flipping that side in blender

i'll try, but i highly doubt thats the issue

What's going on here?

modern blaze
#

thats just not modeled yet

bleak portal
#

hmm

#

I can't see the problem now.

#

its these lines

#

my bad

bleak portal
#

ahh

#

how thin are those "faces"

#

actually. How did you make that area?

modern blaze
#

edit mode in blender

#

its small, sub 1 unit

bleak portal
#

may be too small

#

I think there is a limit to how small it can be in source

modern blaze
#

well im trying to model my computer and thats how it looks

#

can i make the model big and downscale it with $scale or prop_dynamic scaling?

bleak portal
#

maybe.

#

Are the lines supposed to be see through?

#

Or can you just add a face behind it?

modern blaze
#

there should be no blue lines on the front, where i circled

bleak portal
#

Then maybe you can add a face behind it?

modern blaze
#

there already is

#

the face behind it is lit however because its inside the computer

#

and the face behind it is not aligned normally with the faces in front

This may be beyond my area of expertise then. #s1-assets can hopefully help you more. I've never had a problem like this before.
