Maybe either house owner can move any item in the house, but you can only pick up the items that you've placed to avoid gear swapping, pets etc.

Housing is a huge part of the game for some of us, but so far we've only gotten to have a solo experience in decorating castles (which I think is fine for the majority of decorators). Not that everyone would be interested but for those of us who are, at least personally I would definitely be buying an elixir to let me add a friend as a house co decorator or something like this
