When you enter the Deepwater area in Avalon, the yellow arrow stops pointing towards the active quest. The steps still count down, but the arrow always points straight ahead.

This sounds like your quest arrow just froze, which fixes on relogging/relaunching the game
I just quested a wizard through deepwater and got a functional quest arrow
