School pips already give extra value to spells that require them. If they made them count as 3 pips, they would have to re-rebalance every spell that requires a school pip. Additionally, school pips provide you with a way to dual school and not have to use mastery amulets. This was one of the main reasons of adding them in the first place. I don't think they would want to incentivize you to use mastery amulets again after just semi-retiring them.

(Example for the extra value given to spells that require school pips: Stormzilla is 5 pips and does not require a school pip. Its base spell damage is 650-730. Tree of Strife is also 5 pips if you include the Storm Pip as 2 additional pips. Its base spell damage is 805. If you take the average damage of Stormzilla, which is 690, and compare it to Tree of Strife, there is a difference of 115 damage. Tree of Strife does ~17% more damage because it requires a school pip.)

Good point but as the game goes on arch mastery pips will gained way slower over time do to enemy mastery make it more worth it to the player when gained

Also with tree of strife you would have to pay still three pips because of it's cost while two for storm Zilla because it don't have a cost

Lol tree of strife uses a second school you would have to gain a storm and life for it to be just 2 pips to cast
