i cant open balatro
This happened because of mods. You used Talisman/Amulet, and now some of the modded date got into your save data. When vanilla balatro tries to read that, it crashes.
You basically have 3 options:
- Try to reinstall the Amulet mod, and hope that that fixes your save file (I'm not sure it will)
- Delete your
profile.jkrsavefile and lose data in the progress - Manually try to fix your
profile.jkrfile
Which one would you like to try?
the second one
Alrighty
- Go to the path https://www.pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Balatro#Save_game_data_location gives
- Please MAKE A BACKUP of the
profile.jkrfile (rename it, move it somewhere else, whatever) - Try deleting the original
profile.jkrfile
Steam cloud save might get in the way, but try it like this first
Yea after deleting it just try opening the game again
its normal to hvae 2 folders with the profile .jkr?
Yes, that'll happen if you have 2 different profiles
(most people don't so I usually don't bring it up)
same crash?
yes
Alright, can you upload the profile.jkr file here?
should i also delete in configuration the things of the mods?
No I'd recommend keeping those
They'll be useful if you ever decide to reinstall any mods
And they don't do anything if you're playing vanilla except take up a very very small amount of space on your drive
i should delete the second one too?
Depends, which profile are you currently using? The first or second?
i think the second one
Then make a backup of it and delete it from the 2 folder
Ohhhh right
stupid cryptid stuff
Yeah, you did fine in that case
Give me one second
Alright, try replacing the profile.jkr file in the 1 folder with this one
done
Try launching the game?
THANKS YOU SO MUCH
and, how can install mods without crashing the game? i dont want to face this problem again
ty
👍
Uhh I'm not familiar enough with Cryptid/Talisman/Amulet's saving systems
But what I would recommend doing is:
Use Amulet instead of Talisman
Don't use Amulet on its own, but always with Cryptid installed
Make a backup of your current .jkr files, so you can always restore it later
Also, you can delete the profile.jkr backup I told you to make earlier, no use for it anymore
No other mod does the stupid thing of inserting unreadable data into your savefiles, so for any other mod you should be fine
so no crypitd for a while
