Custom rules:

  • Tarot cards no longer appear in the shop

Start with:

  • Jokers: Eternal Seance, Eternal Superposition
  • Deck: Ranks 6-9 are removed

Bans:

  • All tarot cards except for The Star, The Moon, The Sun, and The World
  • Other tarot-generating Jokers (8 Ball, Hallucination, Cartomancer, Vagabond)
  • Tarot Merchant, Tarot Tycoon, and Arcana Packs

The idea here is to encourage the player to use Superposition to generate Tarot cards, which can then be used with Seance to generate Spectral cards. Eventually, you can fix your deck enough to start generating both at once. After some playtesting, the challenge seems quite fun, and it's fairly difficult. I decided not to ban Standard Packs or Purple Seals since it adds some additional variety without defeating the purpose of the challenge. Let me know what you think!

Edit 1: Removed ranks 6-9 from the deck

Why are you banning super position from creating the important deck fixing tarot like strength, hanged man, death?

The way you make straights and straight flushes reliable is with a small deck and extra copies of the key cards.

A challenge that forces you to make straights for super position sounds cool, until it also makes it hard for you to reliably make straights because super position doesn't give you the most important tarot

The suit creators are potent enough to enable straight flushes by ante 5

Almost every straight run I've lost is because my deck was too big and eventually I wasnt able to make one. This isn't about suits. It's about your deck hiding the 10s at the bottom you're deck eventually.

Bosses are really hostile towards straights as well, and can kill you even if you can normally see your whole deck

Some runs with straights will require you to make two of them in a round, and that's a lost cause with 52 cards.

And winning with straights is much easier than winning with ace straights.
The best way to win with straights is to trim the top and bottom, so you increase the odds of finding your outs, and your may have two outs instead of 1. Trying to make ace straights with no rank fixing and no deck thinning sounds more frustrating than fun

It feels like banning tarot from everything EXCEPT super position would be interesting.

I also think banning the econ tarot will make this play worse than you realize.

Is the purpose of this challenge to test luck or to test skill?

"Make difficult hands without deck building in the deckbuilder" does indeed seem like we are being asked to get lucky, rather than mitigate the luck with skill
