Hey everyone, loved playing Balatro when I first purchased it, and I went back into it recently, to grind for the last few achievements but... I know I'm never going to get Completionist++. Today, I saw someone posting in the Steam forum, suggesting for banning to be added in the game and I was instantly on.

This should only be unlocked after getting Completionist imo, it's not to make the main game easier, but it's more to say to the people that DO want to grind for Completionist++ "we got you homie". I assume that Completionist++ takes more than 500 hours currently, and... Let's be real: that's way too much, especially since there's a lot of RNG in this game. You could have the gold stamp on 149 jokers, and then grind for 100 hours alone, for that last joker, cause you won't even see it in 200 runs...

Here's my suggestion:
-15-30 bans on any joker
-2-4 bans on any tarot card
-2-4 bans on any spectral card
-Maybe even 2-4 bans on any boss blind

Maybe the lower number would be unlocked after getting Completionist, and the higher number would be unlocked at Completionist+. Feels like a legit QoL upgrade on the game, and it would ONLY be once you've already been through ~90% of the game...

What do you think?

I think the better way to do it would just be to change the sticker unlock conditions so that jokers that destroy themselves or are intended to be sold or otherwise short lived only require being "used" to get the sticker rather than being owned to the very end.

Your suggestion is good, but it's a different problem. I don't want to have to do like... 500 runs for a golden stamps on the legendary jokers alone, and I also don't want to have Gros Michel "die" just before I win on ante 8. Both would be very frustrating.

Plus this isn't even 100% a "change"; if you don't like it, you wouldn't have to use it.

I don't know, I just feel like this achievement is almost ragebait... It's as if there was a "no hit run" achievement in Elden Ring or something like that. Being able to lower the RNG factor would make it more realistic and fun...

You are not going to miss out on a joker for 200 runs and grind for 100 hours, I’d maybe agree with you more if it wasn’t so absurdly exaggerated. My main problem with this is it’d kinda destroy the game balance considering you can ban all rares except blueprint/brainstorm so you get it every single time. But also, even ignoring cheesy stuff like that you’d end up probably just banning the page 1 jokers which is really lame

Also “if you don’t like it, then don’t use it” doesn’t really apply here when it absolutely changes the game balance, it’s not a QOL thing since it directly changes how the game is balanced and functions. QOL is stuff like high accessibility cards, sorting cards in hand, or seeing what cards are left in the deck

You did not get Completionist++ in less than 100 hours. I don't really want to get into a debate with you though, you've made you're point, so we can move on. You're even right about one thing: it would be better if it was segregated for the jokers (5-10 bans on common and uncommon and 5 max on rare (maybe ONE on legendary)).

I did not say I got c++ in 100 hours, just that it doesn’t take 100 hours for one joker

Getting C++ is more about being good at economy than luck. If you can reliably make a good economy, you will be able to roll a lot and find jokers in time.

Banning to help C++ undercuts this completely optional, unimportant, and interesting challenge.

That said, bans could be interesting for challenging yourself in other ways.

For instance, if you wanted to play without anything that created hand levels.

Or try to win without x-mult.

I'd rather it be is own thing with the challenge deck back, where your can sandbox fun combos, than something you do for normal play.

I think Balatro do not need banning as it is. In future, if we have like 300 jokers, perhaps it can be added, but not now

I agree, it's not important; I'm not a completionist, I only have 100% achievements in like... 2-3 of my games, but I don't know man... This is the ONLY achievement, out of all the games I own, that feels like a slap, not a challenge. In fact, I checked today, and out of all the games that I own, that I also know sold more than 100k copies, is the LEAST obtained one... Statistically; if I was forced to make a guess about you (or anyone else who posted here), I would say that none of you have it. Again though; I'm not saying that I KNOW that, but for me to statistically guess that at least one person who posted has it, there would have to be 72 people posting (that's 50.4% chance though, not 100%).

I don't know why you are all against this. As if you don't use bans in VS or Neon Abyss (for example)... As if it would hurt the game, when I specified that this should be unlocked after getting the first Completionist achievement (and let's add to that: you need Completionist AND all the other achievements except + and ++). Maybe only after C+ even, the point is: make C++ more obtainable.

I'm out though, I made my suggestion and I don't want to waste more time, peace.

As someone who recently got C++ I'd feel slapped by such a change tbh, it's currently a truly tough achievement and all I'm seeing is "it takes too much time", who is in a rush?
