Not only are skip tags kinda bad

But 0.75x mult is bad

This seems like a self imposed challenge if u get D6 tag and Voucher tag ante 1

The point is to take higher risks for passive rewards

And yeah, in ante 1 with no jokers when mult is a make or break for scoring- 0.75X will stick out.

In the mid game I cant see an issue with this

this does seem kinda fun

skips are bad because they are so low value compared to interacting with a fresh shop

but if you're getting 7+ tags for a single skip, that probably will be worth it, based on the tag.

that said, multipliers less than 1 .0 seem like they would be confusing and unintuitive to newbies. they will think it's a bonus and be confused why they lost.

is there a simpler/clener debuff that makes more sense?

i think rather than X0.75 Mult it could be "halves your mult" (X0.5) to be more intuitive

maybe it could give 3 skip tags as its now X0.5 and not X0.75 but i think 3 is too much

I kinda disagree on your last point- multiplication and by proxy multipliers under 1 are generally basic mathematics internationally. It might catch you off guard once or twice but its about as intuitive as 1x mult doing nothing IMO

x-mult harming you is unintuitive in balatro.

there are no places in the game where it harms you, but even a newbie might be familiar with the flint messing with your mult. heck, you could make it an unlock reward for beating the flint to drive it home.

also, half base mult would add a level of counterplay to the joker, since you can be crushed by it, or build around it.

the alternative would be to change the visuals and sounds... for ONE joker... to make it obvious it that it is punking you
