#Wild Joker (Rare)

the images above are a couple of designs for the joker, lemme know which one is better (i personally like the first one better)
@woven roost How wild...
hehehehe
heres an image with the eye fixed
+0.1X when scored is a bit ludicrous lmao, either having it reset or just be a âper wild in deckâ would probably be much more healthy
ig it could be +0.2X and reset at the end of round
If itâs per round you could honestly probably get away with +0.25, but 0.2 is probably a better start until itâs proven underpowered
yea +X0.25 just makes more sense ill do that
I prefer art 2 personally.
I like the 0.1X when scored personally- more than it being per wild in deck
Im amenable to the 0.2x and resetting though- thats 1X for a full hand of Wilds
Per scored is fine with a big benefit like this as long as it resets yeah. Just compare it to like⊠card sharp, that guy gets X3 for pretty little work. X0.2 with triggers would make this more effective but itâd need a ton of deck fixing, which is the kind of âniche / powerâ dynamic the game thrives on
For the card sharp thing- it requires atleast 1 hand be played prior of the same type, and requires good draws/deckfixing.
0.1X per wild without resetting is around that level of strength if you consider Card Sharps near reliance on flushes, HC, and Pair
Which is to say your 2nd point about deck fixing is spot on, but the card sharp comparison feels weird to me
eh i feel like art 2 would get copyrighted by uno
Wasnât really trying to compare them, more just gauge the level of effectiveness Iâd compare this to
Fair enough
Oh if were comparing strictly the level of effectiveness this is pretty darn weak, even in comparison to card sharp
For a rare
Wild Joker (Uncommon)
fair enough
I think itd be fun but 1X- that you lose at the end of the round- for playing 5 tarots/packs worth of cards, is largely ineffective
I think it working like a campfire or hit the road would be really fun/engaging but having a scaling joker for simply playing a wild card doesnât have anything to do with it being a wild card.
but yall gotta consider that its +X0.25 Mult and not +X0.1
I was under the impression its 0.2 not 0.25
Myb
0.1 i think would work if it never reset
I think something that incorporates suits would make it way cooler. Itâs nice to make wild cards viable but it kinda takes away from what the enhancement does
that was what it originally was, but i feel like it was a bit op
Thats why I feel like it hot resetting would be cool, it rewards fitting them into hands you'd already want to play, instead of being a Joker centered around playing as many Wilds in one/two hands as possible
Yeah like I said the reset is cool, but the concept could apply to any enhancement. Play (insert enhancement) to get x0.25 Mult
what makes wild cards unique is the suit changing
Well if weâre going specifically for flavor, youâd probably want something more in line with âscoring a wild card does X to other scoring cardsâ
Cause like in Uno the wild card forces you to play a certain other color
I think I thought of something where if the wild card is played from its original suit it has an effect. No idea if itâs broken or terrible but I thought it was cool to incorporate the suit aspect
Undecided on that one, thatâs a unique interaction but kinda goes against the flavor of wild
maybe smth like "if you play a wild with 4 other cards, each card give +X0.25 Mult per other card of the same suit"?
The whole point of it is just so you can use suit based jokers without needing to worry, itâs underpowered by design so itâs hard to make it work
That might be a bit over complicated
In response to this
hmm
"If played hand contains a flush, scoring cards give 0.5X mult. increases by X0.5 per suit in played hand."
so wild cards increase this by +X2?
It doesnt directly mention Wilds but I can only think of 3 jokers that'd work with it- and the joker itself is called Wild Joker would be intuitive enough to understand its main synergy (plus it shouldn't appear until a wild is in deck, keeping in line with Steel Joker and Lucky Cat)
Are we going off the art or just making a cool effect cause this is good for the latter but for the former this strikes me as more of a support joker
Each wild can only count as 1 suit to each Joker, like Flower Pot
So 1 wild would make it X1.5
X1.5 Mult every time a wild card is scored from its original suit
just plain straight up like that
My wording has a problem when compared to my intention
Fixed
No Wilds = 1X
3 Wilds = 2.5X (as all 4 suits are used)
Iâm not sure about forcing the flush
That would just make it a flush wild card build no matter what
2.5X for three wilds seems a bit steep too imo
Three wilds is pretty hard to get unless thatâs like the only enhancement youâre going for
And that was over multiple hands, slowly building up- but then resetting at the end making it feel eh in my mind
Thatâs fair but you could also retrigger
This kinda sounds like ancient joker with more steps now that I think about it
Ancient but half assable
Oh wait each CARD gives 2.5X?
If 3 wilds are played ye
If 2, 2x
If 1, 1.5X
Bloodstone on crack
Technically 0.5X if you play only stone cards but shhhh
Ok I think having a card that just makes ancient joker poo poo dog water is bad
The cooler ancient joker
Ancient is still stronger for any other situation but having tons of wilds- and wilds would carry more value individually for Ancient
I donât hate that design but youâd 100% have to nerf the value, you could just dig for the one wild in your deck and get a free bloodstone + oops all 6âs proc
Thats definitely fair, but at 0.25 you only ever reach 2X for having all four suits in a flush
(Assuming I make the start 1X instead of 0.5X)
Which is straight up idol with only a flush
Far less deck fixing
A flush with 3 wilds, which dont have many retrigger options innately
Man itâs hard to make a wild card specific joker since itâs whole purpose is to enable flushes or suit based jokers
Honestly
Why are we even discussing idol its endless slop
I get the Ancient Joker comparison though
Thereâs a reason thereâs no hierophant or empress joker because there isnât anything cool about them
Endless slop jokers :bleh:
Iâm starting to wonder if wild cards are just a boring enhancement
They are lmao
They also dont support specific playstyles like Wild, Steel, or Gold do
Id argue Lucky cards fit closer to Hierophant and Empress than Wilds do
Yes
And Luckys have a Joker
Lucky Cat is goat status though
Oh I agree i just think Wilds are boring isnt the same argument as Mult/Bonus cards are boring due to the context around how the enhancement plays
Not to say they do the same thing but theyâre just boring
This is a cool concept and art but I think the best way to make wild cards better is to add more suit based jokers
That are good late ante options
I agree, 0.2 isn't strong enough to warrant wild cards
