[WIP] My Singing Jokers - A My Singing Monsters themed mod for Balatro

Finally making a thread since I think there's enough content made to show

I don't have a set timeframe for this mod to be released by, but I'm going to keep on making Jokers when I can until I'm satisfied

when that happens, I'll release a beta for playtesting

I'll use this space as a sort of devlog for things that couldn't go anywhere else

namely, I added some fun effects to the Dipster joker that makes it more dynamic

notably it uses the same scale as the background music (different mode though but still the same notes) so it should never sound out of tune

it can only appear if you own 3 or more Wishing Torches

I really want to see a Fandhul joker at some point

if I can think of a concept for one (or any of the Primordials) I'll see what I can do

+4 hand size is the idea I have

But it's missing something

what about +2 hands and +2 hand size on Boss Blinds

I was going to say that it was too strong but I think that fits as a rare

I do already have a lot of Rares so I'm trying to slow them down, but I do like this idea so it'll probably be added

Wait I just came up with another idea

What if we had the box from the Wubbox as a joker

This is the concept I have in mind

You would have to play cards with all 8 unique enhancements

They get destroyed when played if it's the one that the joker's looking for

Then the joker gets destroyed and creates the Wubbox

Wubbox gives X4 Mult

Or maybe it can instead work like the idol where it picks a suit and rank at random for you to play and then get destroyed

And you would have to do that 10 times maybe more

the idea is interesting but the actual ability it gives seems pretty uninteresting

I'm trying to adapt the idea of powering up the Wubbox for a big payoff

but just X4 mult is kind of boring

it should be something more elaborate

it's just the final ability I have an issue with

You can come up with something if you have any better ideas

I don't know, it all sounds quite difficult to code, and I'm still very new to coding

I might add it but I won't guarantee it

At least add it in the future because the Wubbox is like a mascot for the franchise

It's the most popular monster

yeah I'll definitely add Wubbox in some form, it might just not have the whole boxing thing

I decided to change the ability of this Joker, since it overlapped too much with the one above

it's dependent on All in Jest since I thought the Simulated cards were fitting

It would actually be cool if the Celestials had their own rarity, maybe even above legendary

I already have a couple Celestial Jokers, but I don't want to shake up the balance of the game too much, so I won't make a new rarity just for them

maybe instead of Wondermine it could be Mini-Mine: Earn $15 when Boss Blind is defeated

Destroy a random joker when the small blind is selected
after beating the boss blind, sell this joker to create the joker card with polychrome

If you include the Magical crystals, Pyrozite, Krystillium, and Hummatite, that makes 12

maybe one for each poker hand?

maybe they could be a new consumable instead

I'll have to wait and see what's best

That made me think of the Zodiac cards from Ortalab

Maybe it can be similar to that but differentiate itself

or maybe if I include Bubblerite, there could be one Joker for each rank

and to avoid oversaturation, they could be split up into different rarities

(for example, the natural crystals and bubblerite could be common, the magical crystals could be uncommon, the others could be rare)

because I had an idea of making a set of consumables based off the elements

naturals, + fire, + magicals, + paironormals, + ethereals, + electricity = 20 which seems reasonable

if this vision is realised though, it'll probably be in an update after this mod is first made public

I don't want to make this goal too unattainable

this is assuming it's a Legendary of course

For transparency's sake, I'm going to detail the plans I have for this mod up until the initial beta version release:

Right now, I'm revising and polishing the abilities of many of the Boss Blinds, as I'm not happy with several of them. I'll probably add a few more Jokers, though I won't implement any of the Crystal Jokers in this version (there's a lot of art to do for those, and they could be added in their own update at some point). After that and some playtesting of my own, I'll release the first (probably broken in some form) version of this mod on Github.

Development will probably slow down a bit in the following weeks as I return to college, but I want to work on at least something every day, I might just not be able to show something new every day

I find it really funny how the new hype mechanic in the Clubbox is essentially just number x number

I have to find a way to implement it in some way

Could be a fun joker playing with the idea of booster packs
