each time a card would be destroyed (excluding selling and using consumables), prevent it from being destroyed and gain 0.2x mult (or 0.1x if 0.2 is too strong)

yes another one of the quite common "prevent card from being destroyed" suggestion
(card here can work for both joker and playing card)

Potential downsides to add if it's too strong but changing the xmult gain is too hard to balance:
A) Resets after beating boss blind (A la campfire, but might have to buff the xmult gain slightly since campfire gets 0.25x per sold, and selling is way easier than destroying)
B) The card destroys itself at a certain Xmult threshold like 5x or something
C) Xmult cap preventing it from going above a certain threshold (kinda boring)

Synergies:
Hanged Man - Gives it 0.4x mult
Immolate - Gives it 1x mult (this is why i think 0.2x might be too strong, but honestly how do you balance anything related to card destruction around immolate without making it too weak, i blame it on immolate and not the joker itself)
Glass Cards and Justice - Each time a glass breaks thats 0.2x mult gain, can be greater with oa6 making it destroy more often
Trading Card - consistent 0.2x mult gain every round, due to the way its worded you'd still get 3$ from that
Sixth Sense - same as to why Trading card is a good synergy
Ceremonial dagger - same as to why trading card is a good synergy
Madness - Super great synergy, you'd get a 0.4x mult from it every ante while the madness itself gains a 1x mult every ante at no cost to your jokers

Other spectral synergies:
Familiar, Grim, Incantation - gain 0.2x mult from them while still gaining the cards
ankh, hex - gains 0.2x mult for every joker you have - 1, you'd gain the edition/copy without sacrificing any other jokers making for a great synergy

Anti-Synergies:
Canio - due to the way its worded, canio can never proc its gain due to shield preventing the act of destruction
Glass Joker - same issue as canio

Gray area:
Gros Michel - you can never get cavendish due to it never destroying, but can be good IF you don't want it to be destroyed
Cavendish - technically positive for it but like, you never see that 1 in 1k happen anyways.

Cards are destroyed when they are sold and when consumables are used.

grizzled cargo
#

im pretty sure "destroy" and "sell" are 2 completely different things

reef crypt
#

right, just pointing out that the language used technically enables a diet soda or invisible joker to be used multiple times, and for you to just keep clicking the immolate button if you get one in your consumeables.

grizzled cargo
#

yeah but like sell and destroy are different

#

selling gives money when destroying just removes

reef crypt
#

fair enough, anti-synergy with trading card

grizzled cargo
slow escarp
#

there's no indication in game that selling a card isn't a type of destruction

#

and i think it's more likely that selling cards is just a way to destroy them and get money

reef crypt
# grizzled cargo ??

The power of trading card is consistent card destruction, if it gave you $0 you'd still bring it just for the effect.

grizzled cargo
#

its a one-sided synergy

#

thats what this joker is

#

you lose out on deckfixing but gain xmult in return

slow escarp
#

i think this should be narrowed to playing cards since selling is a type of destruction

reef crypt
#

it's not like you want to keep a x1 ramen or +0 popcorn around

slow escarp
#

removes some synergies but makes it cleaner than "When a card would be destroyed for a reason other than selling"

reef crypt
#

"When a card would be destroyed for a reason other than selling it or using it as a consumeable."

slow escarp
#

the worry is that now it becomes mucho texto

#

so idk

grizzled cargo
#

lose or lose situation bro

reef crypt
#

just limit it to playing cards.

I disagree that selling cards and using consumables should count as destroying them, that's more of a removal than a destruction

timber mesa
reef crypt
#

huh?

meager bough
#

You wouldn't use this

#

early game it prevents you from fixing and late game its too late to scale it

Why is your Ramen x1 anyway

actually daggering a joker doesnt benefit campfire so selling and destroying are two different things

timber mesa
#

Also I feel like Campfire would say "destroyed" instead of "sold" if it was supposed to be intuitive that selling is a type of destruction

slow escarp

timber mesa
#

My intuition would be that selling wouldn't count as destruction

slow escarp
#

tfw your opponent strawmans your argument so you restate it more clearly

meager bough
slow escarp
#

Squares and rectangles refer to two different things, but squares are still rectangles

#

You're arguing that because square can't be interchanged with rectangle, squares aren't rectangles

timber mesa
#

What makes selling a type of destruction? When you sell things in real life you don't destroy them first

meager bough
#

tfw you got the metaphor backwards its squares are still rectangles not rectangles are squares

slow escarp
#

oops

meager bough
#

tfw thank you

#

tfw I resign

reef crypt
#

Selling the card calls the "start_dissolve" function, which destroys the card visibly

#

I think it probably why those who are of the opinion that selling a card destroys it have that opinion

meager bough
#

tfw no cards are actually destroyed because they can reappear later

reef crypt
#

except gros michel, poor banana

meager bough
#

overshadowed by his younger more steadfast brother

reef crypt
#

funnily enough, gros michel doesn't dissolve, it gets squished in the x direction instead.

timber mesa
#

Does Cavendish do that as well?

grizzled cargo
#

also like i wonder why no one brings this bit up at all until now

#

i dont really think selling is a form of destruction but its better to specify than not ig
