Start with eternal Four Fingers.

Rules:
Default deck.
Can only select up to 4 cards. (The Psychic is banned)
All items in shop cost $4 (before discounts and editions)
Rerolls start at $4.

I like the idea but I think it needs something to make it a bit more challenging

Could just take 4 fingers away, that would ideally make it harder as I don’t plan to ban jokers that can only trigger on certain 5 card hands

Thing is I’m afraid that doing that would mean that there’s ideally gonna be less solutions to the challenge that makes most runs too similar

the four fingers makes up for the lack of the -1 card selection by allowing straights and flushes to be made

also allows them to be made easier

so its just that you can't play full/flush houses (not like anyone did) and that you score 1 less card which unless you're doing a build that relies on enhancements its a pretty neglible difference

What if I made it that the player has to play four cards, no more or no less, in order to score.

They can select 5, but will be warned that the hand will not score much like a boss

Square joker is so bad that it might not matter. You can get at max 16 chips per round assuming you are able to play all 4 hands every round. Meanwhile playing a single straight with runner almost gains the same amount.

At max you get 364 chips before you final hand if you are playing optimized and you get it in the first round's shop. While fairly high this isn't exactly game breaking. Other chips jokers can go higher with the same level of dedication.
