Why specifically jacks
this would be good but i do find it kinda weird how nothing uses jacks specifically
Hit þe road
i said specifically
like baron uses specifically kings
shoot the moon uses specifically queens
triboulet uses both kings and queens
but what do jacks got exclusive to them?
Hit þe road is specifically jacks iirc
Lack of preexisting synergy + its funny to think Jacks are the pinnacle of evolution
oh wait i thought you were talking about ride the bus
mb they are very similar
to me
in art
dont ask why
i just confuse them all the time
🤷♂️
i have been proven wrong
I mixed up scary face & pareidolia for awhile so
still nothing about jacks held in hand though, cuz baron and shoot the moon specifically use kings/queens held in hand, and triboulet does it on score, so jacks still have a huge disadvantage though
I still mix up most of þe 10 "+mult/chips if you play [hand]"
Yeah but atp I just avoid them all, can't confuse them if I never even take em!
Yeah, but this is also insane deckfixing, and giving it a limit means you CAN eventually use this to get all cards to 1 rank
idk
Would it be better without the Jack stipulation?
well i think its kinda cool if it follows the theme and stops as soon as its a human
If þere is a limit it should be aces
also
if it stops at jacks
that means to benefit from the USEFUL face cards, like queens and kings (because they have the shoot the moon, baron and triboulet) you have to manually push them just one step with strength or smn like that
That was my thought process
My concern with it stopping at Jacks is it allows you to never need more deckfixing if all you care about is having just 1 rank (and disregard WHAT rank)
true but think about it
in a 52 card deck and removing the 4 jacks making it 48
and only upgrading 5 every round by just 1
its taking a LOOONG time before enough cards reach jack
Yeah most of those cards must be drawn 5-7 times to become jacks
Nvm u rigbt
Stopping jacks just makes this actually worth taking
Without that its too inconsistent
To be fair stopping at Jacks kinda makes it better to an extent?
Cuz passive rank upgrading would be all over the place if it didn't stop anywhere, like you'd lose aces and most importantly Kings and Queens
Although it's a limitation, stopping at Jacks gives better control of rank upgrades
Though it would still be kinda underwhelming I think? Cuz it's 5 cards you don't have much control over won't be that neat (any hand size above 5 means you will have to face some RNG)
well im assuming it would still upgrade kings and queens?
they'd just loop back around to jacks
@rocky mica we need clarification
I think it would be cool if it didn't upgrade face cards
And aces too
I think it'd be neat if it was the first 5 cards you play (or the first hand of a round, these effects would differ a bit) got their rank upgraded
This would grant more control over upgrades, therefore making them more adaptable for whatever you may need (Fits the theme of evolution)
And would fit the theme of evolution overall, as (If I recall correctly, I may be wrong) evolution is essentially about carrying out genes that prove themselves effective in survival and prosperity
Therefore the 5 cards that get to go first would be a neat representation of that idea
And by "Differ a bit" I mean that if it's only the first hand then yeah, first hand, that's that
But if it's the first 5 played cards each blind, then any hand you play with >5 cards would have "leftover" rank evolution
Would also kinda fit the theme of evolution as it's player selection of what evolves or not (a nod to natural selection)
Though could be a bit clunky
But yeah, overall very neat concept
Yes
It simply cannot upgrade jacks
K -> Q -> A -> 2
Yes. It doesnt say "cannot upgrade faces" it says "cannot upgrade jacks"
Its not on play
Why jacks though
Its on draw
The only time you end up with excess upgrades is with a handsize of 4 or less
Opening draw is still drawing
Ye, it's a little change I thought that would make it a bit better
Cuz this has rare joker potential
Jack specifically because i thought itd be funny.
The reason it has a cap at all is that it gives it an actual deckfixing potential instead of pure RNG, and fits the idea of having a "pinnacle of evolution"
Edited for clarity
That's actually a very good explanation
But yeah, it's pretty neat that it caps at Jacks, but having Queens and Kings going into 2s would be a big drawback
Not that it's bad to have a big drawback, it's a balance choice
Cuz it's essentially 2 and a half Strenght cards per game
Albeit without choice of what to upgrade
Kk, I'll heat up some leftovers
I like your take on it thematically
But allowing the player to control the upgrades would requiring entirely scrapping the Jack limit, as itd become way too potent of a deckfixing source
True, that's why I thought about making it a rare, though it's uncertain wether that'd suffice or not
Lowering the amount of upgrades per blind is also a good option
I don't think so, 5 cards of deckfixing that you decide and can't go past jacks is too much, even for a rare
If it was 2 it'd be essentially 1 Strenght card per blind that doesn't eat a slot
But also can't be saved for later
The Chicot dillema
- Too good for a rare
- Mid legendary
Yes, exactly
Nahh chicots just boring
Its arguably top 2 legendaries
Quite so, yes
A
(In terms of how much it helps the average run)
Oh
Well yeah, fair placing
True true
But well, where would it stand balance wise if it was just 2 cars upgrades then?
Honestly I like your idea of evolution, you should make a post for it since outside of the theme you came up with the entire idea
I do like the idea of having more immediate control for less long term control (punishes playing cards you want to keep)
No, your idea of it being linked to "on play"
