#AI Art - Common

So, most of the time it is ice cream but better?
"AI Art"?
why is that the name?
should be a joker that only has downsides lol
ai art
+1 mult for every card copied
mh, still nope
at the point this is becoming useful, you're so deep in the game that you should have a lot more good stuff going on
I still remeber d&dg had that "AI Generated Card" and I ended up with a funny move using it that unfortunately didn't see it go off (killed the foe before they started seeing the AI-gen cards)
Yall should i do a minigame here
2 real ideas
1 AI
Lets see if ai can take our jobs
I tried having chatgpt make joker ideas a monþ ago and its first attempt was a rare conditional +5 mult so i þink itll be pretty easy to figure out which is which
monb
next thing you tell me is that ß is a B
my point is that thorn looks stupid when used in english
it's just a matter of getting used to it, that's all
close enough that its not worth using tbf
yeah, because you're USED to them
you can get used to many things
thorn is one of them
thorn sucks ass
ive known them since i was a chikd
no normal keyboard has it available to type
ayayay, spicy opinions here, wow
and thus even trying to use it is cumbersome
tkaes the same amount of time to type
"can't be assed" is the only valid reason here
more or you lock your ctrl v for eternity for thorn
terrible sacrifice
okay i could theoretically relearn it but why? for the like 5 people who actually use it?
looks like that's the only reason you can come up with?
no need on mobile
its good enough for me man
what is this argument even about
thorn sucks
mr andrew insisting on bringing back a defunct confusing letter
people hating on something benign
@obsidian dirge
something that makes me have to do a double take every time
something about "þorn" just doesnt look right yk
I have no idea what you're talking about, can you explain?

i will not
because you know exactly what im talking about

Yeah, thorn is stupid and doesn't need to exist
It's always more confusing than just using th
If we're going to add new letters, let's add more vowels, because those are the most ambiguous and confusing parts of the English language
There's already plenty of consonants and we definitely don't need more
Let's start by getting rid of C (which is always confusing because it can sound like K or S) and Q (which is entirely useless because all it does is pair up with U and make the K sound)
que
ㄲe
lowk we need a consonant for the kh sound

?
thats called x
saying something is stupid and confusing about a thing you're just literally just not used to seeing is a take of all time
its stupid and confusing because no one uses it ✌️
if something as common as
oh i dunno
a fucking letter
I'm saying that thorn is unnecessary because th isn't confusing
isnt immediately understandable for everyone
then its a failure at its job
(communication)
what
in every other language ever
except english
because english is stupid
another one of those "thorn is stupid because we're not used to using it" takes?
english is never beating the 5 languages in a trench coat allegations
dont tell me you support that thing
I support the spirit of using it
I never made that argument just to be clear
I'd love if english was using the thorn
I'm saying that thorn doesn't need to exist because th does its job just fine
im pretty sure i made a nightmare script that makes me use as many unnecessary letters as possible lemme find it
that "spirit" is called stubbornness and refusal to understand that its unnecessary as hell
just had to add the "almost", eh?
ƒøʉŋð ɱʎ ɔɑŋɔəɾ ſɔɾıƿŧ
lolwut?
ʎəɑħ ȝʉʎſ ŧħıſ ıſ ɔøɱƿłəŧəłʎ ƒıŋə ɑŋð ɾəɑðɑƀłə
give me one valid reason to use it
Yes, I modified my message
ŧħıſ ıſ ſø ŋøɾɱɑł
I respect people trying to make a move for a change, especially if it's something so benign, like, idk, adding pronouns to your bio
ok yeah never again
at least pronouns in bio dont get in the way of communication
Nothing in English is "perfect" because it's a confusing language, but th is an example of a consonant pair that does fine
horrid analogy btw
also have þe þorn script þat automatically turns all þ in my typing to þ
in german we use "ae" sometimes instead of "ä"
"ae" does the job as well, but man am I glad we got ä, ö and ü
what does german have to do with jack shit
we're really still on this?
it's not a good one, I know, but the first that came to mind
its an irrelevant one
are you from the US?
unfortunately i am but we arent talking about fucking german
we're talking about the dumpster fire thats english
we're talking about language
and the thorn comes from the nordic languages that fused with the english at a certain time
languages are cross connected, especially when it comes to letters, the way things are spelled etc
civil discussion
þis script is so stupid lmfao, þe þiry þree balatro players in þe suggestions channel þought þoroughly about þe consideration of þ
exactly
If we're really going to replace a consonant pair with its own letter, why not ch instead? Sometimes it makes its own sound (chair, child, chamber), sometimes it literally just makes the K sound (chroma, chasm, ochre), and sometimes it makes the SH sound somehow (chute, machine)
Th pretty much always makes the th sound except for very specific scenarios
that's more like it!
Yes! Replace ch as well!
we dont need to make new letters at all if meaning is conveyed
itd make phonetics easier but communication harder
þe issue is meaning aint always conveyed
not everyone has english as a first language
meaning is conveyed even less when using thorn
meaning is conveyed through learning
Ok, I'm not arguing against making new letters, I think the English language should absolutely be made easier to understand
im more so specifically talkin about ch rn
yeah english isnt exactly my first language either
careful, you might get blocked lol
it should for sure
It's just that th is a stupid consonant pair to replace
the biggest issue is that it looks similar to both p and b
this exactly
it has been done by many cultures all throughout history tho
it would be better if it was more distinct
i never saw the word ochre before btw this is the first time i see this, i woulda pronounced it oshre if it wasnt next to examples like chasm and chroma, oh i also used to spell chroma and chasm as shroma and shasm too
This also, yeah
distinction of letter design is also subject to becoming used to it
?
like I and l (capital i and lower cas L)
that is an issue with most fonts
yep
Sure, but if you want to integrate it into language, the design should be distinct enough at first that readers aren't confused
lowk had to zoom in to make sure it was different
but the position of the letter should be enough to tell you what letter it is
unless its a word where more than one could apply, in the case of thorn
I'm not saying the letter is perfect, but it's definitely subject to a learning curve
"to the store"
"to þe store"
you have to consider this from the perspective of people who literally have never seen this letter before
"to be store? to pe store? what the fuck are you on about?"
rhythm game boss song titles:
throws me off guard a bit when i see it outside this place but since being in these evil suggestion forms has conditioned me to accept it from some people i can read it pretty normally
My opinion is that in cases where a letter or consonant group can make multiple sounds and there's no consistent rule to determine which sound it makes, then it makes sense to create a new letter. That's why I think splitting ch makes sense, but that thorn is unnecessary
and if you have to explain that it replaces "th" every time you meet someone new
idk, I have dabbed into learning mandarin and the distinction between þ, p and b sounds silly to me tbh
unfortunately this is the case
sure
...then thats a problem
"problem", as with anything new that has to be learned
I think it would be much easier to integrate new letters if they evolved somewhat naturally rather than assigning what most English speaks would consider an arbitrary symbol
Like for example, W evolved literally from the merging of 2 Vs
this makes sense
but if you really think about it all letters are arbitrary symbols
Like here's an example of what I mean
also the dollar sign
th being a crossed u would be odd
also preferably should be doable in one stroke
Sure, it would be odd if you jumped straight from step 1 to 4, but if you go through sequentially, it feels more natural
One stroke is certainly preferable, but there are plenty of English letters that can't be written in one stroke
yeah its like, aim for it if its possible so its easy to write out in paper
thats why i like that ch h looking thing
naturally evolving letters are a thing of the past though, mostly.
Because back then people would write per hand and copy stuff that way, translation was not a universal thing that followed guidelines and many other things that resulted in things changing gradually over many years
nowadays there's countries that just change things, through a reform or such things, and it works
I'm not saying thorn is the perfect solution for a jarring problem. But if it was part of a bigger reform, it has potential to make english easier for readers and writers
that's a point I was trying to make when I brought german in.
another example is how china changed their whole fucking written language. And people are just used to the new symbols now (traditional vs simplified chinese)
evolving letters a lot harder to do over text i think that much is obvious though
it just wont happen is my take on that.
Because when we type, all the letters are pre-formed and mixing letters will not happen
can't be assed you say
To be honest, I'm not sure the alphabet will ever be able to change for a long time since Unicode standards exist
the issue with inserting the thorn this way is that it impedes communication
the entire point of language is communication. if your change is unnecessary and temporarily impedes communication, it will never be adopted.
umlauts came to be because people needed to save paper, so they developed shorthands by writing e on top of other vowels, which over time simplified down to two dots iirc
in other words, they were necessary
but the thorn is absolutely not necessary
trying to force it in is a fool's errand
Yeah, I guess you could say it's a
's errand
But yeah, I totally agree
