maybe make it 7 because 8s already have a strong deckfixing joker

8 ball isn't a real joker though, so I think it is fine

8 ball is kinda underrated

After seeing 8-ball not trigger once after scoring 24 8s, I have a personal dislike against it. I understand that is just bad luck, but I cannot respect that joker. I am not sure if it has ever given me a tarot.

Realistically though too, it could use a buff to a 1/3 chance. Cartomancer is an uncommon, however, in order for 8 ball to equal it, you would need to on average play 4 8s every round. To do this you will need to use resources on deckfixing, sacrifice potential hand types due to the need to play and dig for 8s and in a way commit to the joker due to needing to fix for 8s. While it is only a common, considering that it takes a not insignificant amount of sacrifice to bring it up to even cartomancer levels, it could easily be a 1/3 chance. Cartomancer would still have the advantage of convenience and initial output but eight ball would be more realistic to build around. It also makes thematic sense, magic 8-balls say yes, no or maybe.

I think it is fine for this joker to also work with 8s because it would synergize with 8 ball rather than being an alternative to it. It makes for more interesting play. While 7s are rather devoid of a dedicated joker, that is not necessarily the worst thing. For one, it allows for deckfixing before you are sure of your build, if there is always a "bad" rank, early deckfixing is much less risky. The game could perhaps benefit from a 7s joker, but I don't think it is the highest priority.
