What do double tags do?

urban rover
#

double tags are some sort of "tickets" that allows you to get the next skip tag twice :

  • double tag + celestial tag = two mega packs to open instead of one
  • double tag + rare tag = 2 rare jokers in the shop instead of one
  • double tag + juggle tag = add 6 hand size on next blind instead of 3
  • etc. etc.

the tricky part is that double tag doesn't apply on itself, meaning you can stack them (this is common especially on anaglyph deck). Each stacked double tag add one more copy of another tag, so :

  • DT + DT + DT + negative tag = 4 negative tags (not 8, because it's 2 + 1 + 1)
  • DT + DT + uncommon tag = 3 uncommon jokers (not 4)

hope this helps

What is the 56th joker and is it good or bad and why?

leaden viper
#

The 56th Joker is Hiker. And you know how cards you play have chips? Hiker makes your cards grow when you play them, giving more chips.
It depends if you play many cards you want to upgrade, or too few cards for upgrades to be good

arctic gust
#

additionally, hiker's scaling is dependent on you being able to draw and play the upgraded card. As such, it will perform much better on low stakes, before the -1 discard of blue stake kicks in. Due to its nature as an on score joker, it is also vulnerable to card-debuffing boss blinds, like the pillar

Also,

Why is Baron so endgame dependant?

arctic gust
#

Baron effectively turns all of your king cards into steel, which is a rather weak effect when considering the default 52 card deck only has four kings (0 for abandoned deck, and depends on rng for erratic deck). Because of this, it is unlikely that the player will be able to draw the kings consistently without heavy deckfixing. Having to hold kings in hand also restrict the player in what kind of hand they can make.

Like steel cards, Baron's xmult activates before most jokers that give +mult, meaning levels from planet cards or on score effects that give +mult are required to utilize Baron's xmult to the fullest. This means that many +mult jokers don't work very well with baron.

In the lategame, deckfixing allows the player to fill their deck with kings, allowing baron to trigger consistently. Due to the rapid scaling requirements of later antes, Baron's repeated xmult triggers are one of the few ways to go far in endless mode. At this point of the game, the player will likely also have additional tools to support the Baron, such as high hand levels, red seals, copying jokers, Mime, and maybe even hand size increasing vouchers/jokers.
