Cant seem to remove mods

so im trying to play the game but it crashes all the time when im in a hand ive checked the files i dont even have a mods folder anymore but i do have 2 folders with cryptid and steammodded but everytime i remove them they come back when i click play and i cant find any mod folders or files someone help me

ive even verified the game files 10 times but it still crashes

Have you gone into the other folder and moved the version.dll file out? That removes the game’s ability to even think about loading almost all mods.

Even putting that file into a folder within that same folder works to prevent the game from reading it.

I can help you navigate to the correct folder if you can’t find it

Just to confirm, your balatro is modded? You have the mods button in the main menu and/or the second window when launching balatro?

but the weird thing is whenever i delete the cryptid and steammodded files and start the game they come back

That sounds like the config settings for those mods instead of any actual content/code getting restored by steam cloud save. Can you give the location of the cryptid/steamodded folders that keep getting restored?

Thanks. Yeah, those are the config settings, they don't actually load anything nor can they crash their game

Do you have a screenshot of any of the crashes?

I'm suspecting it's just balatro itself crashing, not any mods

well i havent taken any yet but what happen is the game just freezes and then I can actually tab out for a couple minutes but after my whole pc gets frozen

I wouldnt say its a regular crash, it just become frozen either at the beginning or at a later point if i get lucky, and then when it freezes if i start clicking my pc just starts to freeze and the only way to fix is to restart the pc lol

but i havent checked the memory usage yet i could try that

someone said windowed could work so ill try

ive tried now for a couple of minutes, and it is working so far!
