#Clumsy Joker (common)

can be uncommon
yes, it could be uncommon, but trashers should be at common.
maybe not THIS joker, but trashing jokers in general.
trashers are very rare in this game, and other deck builders have much more powerful trashers, and many more of them.
the game is built around ante 8, but I've never managed to fully fix my deck by then. even with early trading card, and an immolates, there's still more to do.
deck sculpting is extremely satisfying and powerful, but the only joker out of 150 that can trash at will is trading card
What other deckbuilders have more powerful trashers?
I haven't played that many deckbuilders, but I've played Slay the Spire and Peglin, and both of those are pretty stingy with removals
valley of the kings
dominion
ascention
arctic scavengers
etc
i haven't played peglin, but slay the spire is Extremely stingy, and my only complaint about that game
i actually can't think of many games with stingier trashing than balatro, and you have a much larger deck (52) than other games, which typically start with 10-20 cards
The only one of those I've heard of/played is Dominion, but isn't trashing cards not that common in that game? Like if I remember correctly, even if you're trashing a card, you usually get another in return?
(I could be wrong I played it like once lmao)
You do have to consider that different games have different mechanics and playstyles
Like in Balatro, you can discard a lot of cards in order to get the ones you want
no, dominion has extremely powerful trashers. you almost always have a fully fixed deck before you win.
it's one of the most powerful trashing deck builders ever, and a core part of the charm of the game, where you're tryign to create a powerful engine and MUST get the dreck out of your deck to do so.
"chapel" is widely considered one of the most powerful cards in the game, and all it does is waste an action to trash multiple cards
That's not always the case in, for example, StS, so deck removals are harder to come by
Cool, thanks for the info! I think I played the starter version of the game without Chapel, so that would explain me being misinformed
this is very relevant for sure. you only see more of your deck in other deckbuilders if you have the right cards in your starting hand to draw more card, and usual starting hands are closer to 5 than 8, so balatro is more forgiving of janky decks.
I think adding more card removal methods would be cool, but I think keeping them in-line with existing mechanics is important
Tbf StS needs to be stingy with how easily it is to add cards to your deck, it adds longterm weight to stinginess
In comparison to Balatro; which starts you with a MUCH bigger deck with overall LESS opportunities to add; i think more removal is good but we also need more ways to add to the deck if you want to be "fully fixed by ante 8" without like.. completely breaking the games current balance
Idk if players should be "fully fixed" by ante 8, I think that's more for endless
I was simply directly addressing a complaint they had, being that they're rarely if ever fully fixed by ante 8.
Ok, I got it
I agree with you. I'm just adding my take that more removal won't get there w/o breaking the gamr
I think the game should allow you to fix your deck well by ante 8, but not perfectly
full agreement
both parts of deck fixing is fun and powerful, and trashing is obviously only one part of that.
It does seem that there are already many fun ways to get the cards you want, since many tarots help, and there are standard packs
but there's only one and half tarots, two jokers, one spectral (that goes net down) that help you trash.
all this is to say, I believe there is space for more jokers, and more common jokers, to assist in trashing.
I care more about their being more trashers than I am married to this particular attempt
