This happened under extremely niche conditions, so I'll outline all of the details of my game below...

**Platform: **Mobile
**Deck: **Plasma (red stake)
Ante: 18
Jokers:

  • Golden joker (negative)
  • Blueprint
  • Blueprint (foil)
  • Blueprint
  • Baron
  • DNA
    Consumables:
  • Death
  • Fool
    Cards:
  • Diamond King (steel, red seal) [60+]
  • Miscellaneous (purple seal) [~3]
Boss: The Pillar ("Cards played previously this Ante are debuffed")
Vouchers: Can't remember exactly, but I know had...
  • Blank
  • Overstock & Overstock+
  • Paint brush
  • Clearance Sale & Liquidation
  • Crystal Ball
  • Telescope
  • Tarot Merchant & Tarot Tycoon
  • Grabber & Nacho Tong
  • Seed Money

Here's what happened: I was shooting for naninf with Baron (create 4 kings every hand, playing high card, eventually use cryptids on Serpent boss, etc. etc.). When I hit The Pillar, I assumed it wouldn't be a problem since I've been playing nothing but high card. I used my discards to search for purple seals when I somehow drew 3 debuffed kings. I used my DNA+blueprints to create 4 more kings and planned on using my Death and Fool to reset 2 of the debuffed kings. Because DNA creates cards on the right side of your hand, I selected the right-most king and one of the debuffed kings to apply death. However, when I used death, the debuffed king briefly reset before all of the kings created by DNA became debuffed. I obviously lost the round and unfortunately forgot to grab a screenshot (though that wouldn't really have demostrated the bug).

I think I've listed all of the important details, but let me know if more is needed to get to the bottom of this. I would recreate it if I could, but conditions are extremely specific on a late ante, so I'm not even going to try.

Hope you can get to the bottom of this!

I think it was a delayed debuff, duping debuffed cards with DNA and Death will create debuffed cards

Cards generated mid-round by dna have technically already been played that ante (the hand prior).

The cards themselves haven’t become unique yet so them getting debuffed at all isn’t necessarily a bug.

I don’t know exactly why it doesn’t immediately become debuffed, but it’s almost certainly due to a check not running in the correct order.

Using a tarot or playing another hand would re-run that check and correctly flag the newly generated cards as already being played (since they technically have, as they are the card used to proc DNA, which has obviously been played).

Hopefully this makes a bit more sense

Okay, I understand why it's happening - thanks for the explanation.

However, that design doesn't make a lot of sense. Yes, the card I DNAed has technically been played, but it creates 4 new cards that haven't been played yet. Copying every part of that card's game state leads to unexpected outcomes for the player. From their perspective, this queen of clubs card has now been changed into king of hearts card - not a full representation of the original card. DNA and death should only copy attributes of the card that matter to the player like suit, rank, seal, chip value (if upgraded by hiker), etc.

Whether this is a bug or not, it creates scenarios that are hard to follow as a player and produce outcomes that are far from intuitive.

Hope this feedback is constructive. Love the game and would love to help in any way to make it better.

I do completely understand where the confusion is. The cards created, while they themselves have not been played, they take the 'Played" attribute from the originally played card copied by dna. It isn't communicated well, and probably should either not debuff at all, or debuff immediately
