why

Rerolling new runs for charm tags looking for a soul card is not fun

modest garden
#

game shouldn't be balanced around endless

I'm trying to get gold sticker on Yorick lol. Last joker left

Look who finally showed up

I disagree with an overall increase but I think if you only have legendaries left to gold sticker, an increased rarity could be justified

game shouldnt be balanced around neither endless or completionist style stuff imo

#

it sucks to wait for soul cards but making legendaries less rare would kill the point of then

also theres already specific balancing to protect against tedious legendary gold stickers

Flip side, legendaries are not always optimal for gold stakes runs. Seeing a soul card in ante 5 may be a pass of you need all your jokers just to survive. And often times legendaries don't fit your build at all, and pivoting in gold stake can be difficult

its not always good to take a soul but making it less rare is dumb still

I'd argue that increasing the frequency of seeing them from 0.3% to say 0.6% would allow for flexibility, and still keep them rare enough to be exciting

#

I spent maybe 2 hours rerolling for charm tags spread across 3 days to get that Yorick. In that time were also just runs for fun. 0 soul cards seen out of all the arcana and spectral packs until I got a double ante 1 charm tag roll.

#

So conservatively, 200 relevant packs opened? Possibly more before a single soul card spawned

I mean tbf you were the one who chose to go about getting that last legendary in the most boring and menial way possible

#

You could have just. Kept playing the game

Yes that's fair, though I think I covered a portion of this above (legendaries on gold runs not being useful in many cases, especially at mid-game+). However, without specifically targeting a soul card spawn, that could easily be 100 or more 'organic' runs? I don't sit and play balatro for hours at a time. Usually play for 20-30 minutes a day while I have some time, or maybe a run or 2 before bed. Hoping for a soul card at the current spawn rates is just not an enjoyable experience.

#

Even adding soul cards to Sixth Sense or Seance would at least make them somewhat farmable

There’s nothing forcing you to get the achievements done right away, if there was an unlock requiring completionist then I might agree

#

Also personally I got all the legendaries done a fair bit before the other jokers on C++

#

I think you could make the argument for resetting over and over again for any joker, like Tribe was my last gold sticker but I had to power through runs to get it done

jagged fern

I get that. But take a step back and imagine soul cards have double the spawn chance they currently do. What would be the negative consequence to this? They'd still be incredibly rare, but you could actually get use the (IMO) most exciting jokers more often. Especially on higher stake runs. And as far as your point for restarting for any joker, while true, the shops allow more opportunities over the course of a run to acquire stickless non-legendary jokers.

#

My strategy, and I'm sure the most common strategy for getting gold stickers has been get set up with a good build early, save money, and re-roll aggressively at the 8th ante. There is no viable strategy to look for soul cards except reroll ante 1

The negative consequence is that they’re all very strong and would trivialize twice as many runs as they do now, also they’d be less special when you find them

#

Honestly the only one which adds huge variety is Perkeo, the others are all very straight forward and feel samey across runs
