P common suggestion but I still like it
Unlock Requirement could be selling [x] amount of Jokers
Maybe an amount of Rare Jokers
@quick torrent @thin surge what donât you like about it
pinging people who downvote your suggestion is annoying as fuck
- Itâs not my suggestion
- Downvoting a suggestion without giving any feedback as to why you downvoted it is annoying as fuck
Just feels kinda weird ngl, and like a worse showman. The main use is you sell a joker to find it again and have effectively 2 of them
I donât have the time or drive to respond to every suggestion I dislike, I respond whenever I have something substantial to say
How are people going to know whatâs bad about it if no feedback is given
And they just see a bunch of downvotes
Iâm not obligated to respond to every suggestion
I think Iâm actually decent at saying why I dislike most suggestions, itâs not like I spam
every suggestion without elaborating
Youâre not âobligatedâ to do anything but itâs the polite thing to do
I only got so much time to spend on the Balatro discord, the emotes are meant to get my point across quickly
You could
Well given I didnât see an issue with this outside of it being a common idea I donât know what helpful feedback I couldâve given
But cmon, it's a server sharing app made FOR these conversations. There is nothing wrong with pinging someone as long as it's not to spam em
Nobody âowesâ anything but again itâs the polite thing to do
It isnt the "polite thing" to do, nor is not commenting the "rude thing" to do; the polite thing to do is ask if they mind elaborating as you did in your first message
Simply downvoting and not critiquing leads to literally nothing outside of bad feels for the OP
Itâs pretty disheartening to get a bunch of
s without anyone explaining the issues
I disagree heavily because it's happened to me a variety of times; he'll I've been the one pinging others to ask for context
Hasnât happened to me here but a while ago on another server and it kinda just made me stop suggesting for a time
Sometimes- an idea doesn't land. If you take that personally, that doesn't make the Nopes! Rude, it means they didn't elaborate.
So what you do, is ask them to elaborate
My ideas were objectively shit but I was too inexperienced to know why
Thats why i also responded to Alyssa, they were very much rude or ig blunt, and non-explanatory
And im sorry to hear that- but it isnt a requirement or standard- you're suggesting something here for the public to "vote" on- is it rude to vote no on a poll? No!
I agree with how Alyssa handled it- she elaborated when asked
I mean getting words on why some ideas suck also can hurt
Mate, Iâm not saying âitâs rude to vote no on a pollâ. Iâm saying âitâs rude to say something is bad without explaining why you think itâs badâ
So its a lose lose situation
wild to me that so much vitriol from an easily ignorable ping, or to ping someone for why they only nope reacted somebody elses idea
Just make good ideas and then no hate must be given
anyways the joker idea is kinda bad bc yea, its just showman niche
Sure, but that leads to improvement
Basically where I'm at
Katie did it right- responded when asked but also explained that her response isn't something you should expect
And- unfortunately, it's not saying the idea is bad- it's saying the idea doesn't fit Balatro for any reaskn
Could just feel overly modded
A nope isnt 100% negative
Its not rude to interact with the post set up by others in the way the server was meant to be used- messaging or elaborating on it is a luxury, not "polite"
Its only like 65%
Idk this just feels stupid, I'm prolly gonna stop responding
the reason you'd take this is to replace one of ur good jokers, say blueprint, and then find that joker again in shop later
so it's just a significantly better showman that only allows the duping of one joker, except that you either need to have another joker worth "duping" (brainstorm i guess) or an empty slot to make long term use of it
It is stupid (thats why I am only being 65% serious )
Bcyz don't get me wrong, Alyssa's response was a real big đ€š to me
its both too good at showmans niche and too situational
It makes judgment and wraith basically useless though
Never sell
Just too easy
so does like, having full slots
antisynergies arent reasons to not add something
I wouldnt even call it good at showmans niche since it requires you NOT buy other jokers ever again
Sell*
by the time you use showman you probably aren't anyways
The difference is the potential to tho
it would have to be the same with this, except earlier if you want to use an open slot with it
being able to use it earlier makes it better
Yet it's on lock down once you do, slogging your entire run
what situation would that be
Its winmore
If you already have your run set up like that its just win more
And if you dont you get willy joker as your copy for 50% of the tine you have it
Any situation where you're using this to copy a half decent joker; usually one you want for scoring. Then all of a sudden you can't sell any jokers unless your confident in pivoting-
Not just "can't sell this one Joker"- because thats any scoring Joker you need. You can't sell any jokers. That's a Joker slot lock down almost
The idea sounds like it could be fun sometimes, but not very useful
lets say ur baron miming, bc why else use showman
baron mime blueprint brainstorm and lets say, burglar
you sell blueprint for... frankenjoker
I don't like that name
you sell blueprint for mimic, so then you have baron mime mimicbp brainstorm burglar, looking for ectoplasm and then blueprint again
This is.. ehh since you can still buy other jokers, just not sell; so you would want to get this off early enough to still be shaping your run
basically it just lets you do the showman part before getting ecto rather than only after
Endless isnt how we design things
endless is the only reason to ever use showman or this Joker
Endless has and will always be important to keep in mind
things are designed for niches, if the niche happens to be more prominent in endless then so be it
Not the center of balancing, but it's damn important
Its not terrible in a endless run but its not how usefulness should be designed
Exactly
I would get rid of the damn though
I think that showman is more fun though than this joker
I love seeing the world go to mess
Me watching Balatro Server's Repost Police do a raid on Sheet Suggestions without a warrant:
Thats the one of the funniest things i have ever read in this server
The variability of what
can mean is even more reason you should clarify
IronicâŠ
Lmao
Thats the joke
Idk man, quenching someone's anxieties before it's even brought up or known isn't my job and/or shouldnt be an expectation for me- if you ask me, I'll expand on it. Elaborating before that point is just as "polite" as not elaborating before is "rude." (It isn't in any way I can conceive)
My sentiment remains unchanged- there's no problem with pinging asking for elaboration
If someone offers you food and you shake your head are you obligated to say that escarogo tastes bad?
But it's really not reasonable to expect everyone who will interact with a post to elaborate or explain themselves- maybe I'm wrong for thinking that, but I see 0 reason that'd be expexted
well i dont elaborate if someone gives a good reason or my reason for disliking
sometimes i dont elaborate if its obvious
The sisyphean challenge of a balatro player: learn to read
Does it give +4$ at the end of the round
Ding ding ding correct awnser we've got a winer
False dichotomy. If someone goes âam I a good cookâ and you say ânoâ without explaining why, thatâs rude
Or better comparison âis this dish I made goodâ
Thereâs a difference between obligation and decency
There is nothing bad with having a worst version of a joker as long as it's original
Whoâs to decide whatâs decent and what isnât? Thereâs no concrete set of rules in this channel, and some things I consider decent are things that you donât
And I want to know why getting unnecessary pinged is annoying no offense
I had wanted to call out it was a bad example but couldn't think of a better one
But here's where I dislike yours as well
You're not asking if a dish is good
Youre asking if it belongs on the restaurants menu
And the difference there is that sometimes, you don't need go in depth saying "oh yes, this dish fits/doesn't fit because [blank.]" When, genuinely, it's not saying you dislike the idea or taste, just that you don't want it on the full menu.
By your logic, people who thumbs up should explain why they think it's a good fit for the game; the only difference in the info you gain is whether they think it does or doesn't fit, and whatever the ego tells you.
Iâm not being negative, Iâm not being overly critical, Iâm not spamming, Iâm not making fun of anyone, etc. I could be indecent, but I really am not. If the worst thing to happen to youâs a reaction on discord then you got a pretty good life
I agree w this and it's why I said amth above
Lemme find it
^^^
Never said there were concrete rules
Just as youâre free to
without feedback Iâm free to ping to ask for feedback
Literally âthis just doesnât fitâ is enough
I don't think anyone's contesting that atp; i think the idea is that you can ping but you still shouldn't expect the comment if you do ping
There are plenty of suggestions that thereâs not really anything to say outside of âthis doesnât vibe with Balatro as a gameâ/âthis feels moddedâ/etc.
Even Katie didn't check-mark the whole "Ping is annoying as fuck" remark; and elaborated on why she doesn't always do it. Nowhere did she say you weren't free to ping her
Yeah I got no problem with a single ping like that
I do have a problem with making it some moral thing about needing to give feedback
Exactly my point! There's nobody in the wrong here other than Alyssa IMO and that's moreso me disliking her attitude in the response than me actually saying she did smth wrong
Itâs incredibly disheartening for someone to get a lot of
s without anyone explaining why they donât like it
Like literally any other creative pursuit, getting a bunch of negative attention without any real criticism is off putting
I got nothing else to say to that, this is going in circles
A) That's the assumption of the ego saying that everyone just hates it; when you accept the Nope! Just means they don't want it in base balatro, you'll lighten up.
B) I've directly felt that way, and I just.. asked lol, didn't get shit for it, didn't have people mad at me; you're taking a moral stance that is hollow as far as i see. Because in the end, even if Alyssa got annoyed by it, you got your damn answer, without a complaint, and a justification for WHY sometimes she doesn't leave a comment
What more do you want
Yeah this ainât even your post
Im here alot and I just.. can't bring myself to see your point outside of people being overly negative toward themselves
I sure as he'll dont find nopes without a reason that big of a deal-
A little annoying ye, but just ping em LOL
Iâll gladly say what I dislike of someone asks nicely, like here #1404621312386924555 message
but this #1404621312386924555 message is my problem
âand I just⊠asked lol,â yes that is what me pinging people was
Anyways, I'll stop winding on and on, since I do in the end agree pinging is fair
Yes, and my point is you've turned this into a moral argument when you got exactly what you fucking wanted from half the people you pinged
And everyone* involved in the argument called out how the other person shouldn't have handled it that way
(*atleast 2)
Itâs kinda just a weirder invisible
ÄȘt's alright everyone. While I agree with Hyper's point that it can be disheartening to receive Nope!s with no feedback, it's also understandable that someone would like to peacefully state their disagreement an idea and move on with their day. Let's all continue forward suggesting, critiquing and offering feedback in a civil discussion about a game we all enjoy.
if I sold the last joker for a reason why would I need another to copy it especially when it still takes up a slot
Ok this is đ€ but when you get down to brass tacks everythingâs a moral argument (/lh)
Ehh I have a problem with something further down
Throwing Alyssa's words back at her aint that bad
Grrr, you win this time
Could be if a good Joker was a perishable?
I donât think there should be jokers that are way too reliant on higher stakes
Thunk probably wouldnât either
As Katie said the primary issue with this is that itâs just weaker showman
But I donât particularly dislike it
I agree the idea could probably do with some work/modifications, just wasn't really sure and was hoping the community could suggest something. Didn't mean to accidentally start an ethics argument on Balatro Suggestions lol
Tbh I think that the ideaâs kinda fundamentally, you canât really do a numbers change like most suggestions
I think itâs a cool idea, I just kinda dislike it thatâs all
The joker is perfect as it is in my opinion
