Group of small Vanilla++ content mods that aim to rework miscellaneous content from POLTERWORX (Jen's Almanac), usually in a more balanced or fun way.

Obvious credit to jenwalter666 for making POLTERWORX in the first place, this paired up with other unbalanced mods is meant to be a half-substitute for POLTERWORX since it was eradicated from the face of the planet.

Jen's other mods have also been mostly reincarnated

Poltergeist isn't really a revival as much as it is a frankenstein
I am remaking everything BUT what people actually care about from almanac

No jokers, no fusions, no funny big numbers, no OCs
Instead i revive Hoxxes, Tokens and of course

All of the reimplemented content is very secondary except maybe Kuiper which does planets

I am indifferent but i find it strange that it's in Balatro
If you want to have a story with OCs and omnipotent beings and stuff, why Balatro

I also have a suspicion it was done to minimize effort since you can just attach any effect to an OC and that's it, whereas with regular jokers you have to think of something that actually matches the joker's effect or vice versa

With a critical point of view almanac just starts seeming low effort
It tries so hard to be different from vanilla only so jen has to do as little stuff as possible: over 10 enhancements, but only 1 Tarot Card applies a few of them, 27 Vouchers but there's only 3 series with a lot of tiers and similar art, heaps of editions but 90% of them are just random Mult/Chip bonuses and don't have any corresponding content (tags, jokers, synergies), 40 planets but most of them are exactly the same with a few changes (Suit planets, Rank planets, Consumable planets) and the vast majority of them are just scaling black holes

Considering the whole stolen assets drama i don't think this is very far fetched, not to mention jen made the community contribute a LOT of art and just put in on the respective backgrounds and coded them in

I think Im not the only one, I think the OCs thing was one of the reasons I got engaged in balatro modding and almanac at the time
and it's why a few Jokers in my mod consist of Legendary joker art, but for non-legendaries (ancient, rare), as well as my mod having epic/legendary blinds (the latter never implemented officially)

like admittedly, some of the OC art (although done by others) do look cute as well (oxy, maxie)

Well that's what happens with time, mods are made by passionate fans and not all of them are great designers and whatnot
They learn what to do and what not to do over time and the mod evolves around that
or they quit

Like there two mods I keep looking for if anyone got any info: Dreaded Jokers and Tertrapack because they don't seem to work and really interesting

Almanac in this case suffered from a lot of bad design choices and execution and jen refusing to listen to feedback (in my opinion)
My point with Poltergeist is to take the good ideas with bad execution and make them good ideas with good execution, along with freeing it from the insanity of the mod
All of the content im reviving is very secondary as well, i have a strict no jokers rule

Changing it to "+1 score operator when obtained" would probably fix things
