Let me start by saying this could very well be intentional, but I’m not sure. I have a straight with the Ace, 2, 6 (all clubs) and the 4 of hearts because of the shortcut and four fingers, but I also have a flush with the four clubs because of the four fingers. If I remove the 9, I’m left with a straight, and if I remove the 4, I’m left with the flush. What I’m unsure about is whether a flush and a straight without being a true straight flush (all the cards being the same suit) should count as a straight flush.

Everything about that is intentional. You have a flush with 4 clubs, and a straight (A246).
You have a straight flush
The game differs from poker in how it defines strush/royal flush due to jokers like shortcut and four fingers
Essentially the game just looks for a straight and a flush when determining if you have a straight flush.
As for a royal flush, it also has the condition of all scored cards being rank 10 or higher
Yes, I get that, but I was just wondering if it was intentional for it to count as a straight flush. While it does match the conditions for both a straight and a flush, it doesn’t match the wording of how a straight flush is described in the game. So, I thought it could be a side effect of the game simply checking for both a straight and a flush, rather than it being meant to count as one. There was never any question as to how the game ended up awarding the straight flush.
Four fingers explicitly changes the definition of both a straight and a flush while you have it
but not the straight flush
Again, a straight flush is just a straight and a flush
not in the wording of the game
You can absolutely argue that the wording is unclear, but it is 100% working as intended
It’s not unclear it’s just straight up wrong. And just for clarity, I’m not trying to start an argument with you for the fun of it or trying to rage bait you. If you say it’s intentional, then it is, but I also want to point out that it’s a contradiction in the wording of the game. So, thanks for taking the time to talk to me, and I’ll continue this run because I’m getting a lot of straight flushes!
No I get that, this exact question has been posted here at least 100 times so I completely understand why you would ask about it
It’s a bit playing with the definition as without either of the jokers mentioned, there is no scenario where a strush would be ambiguous. So changing the wording just for 2 ||(really only 1 as shortcut only interacts with Royal which has no attention drawn to it beyond Brainstorm’s unlock)|| joker interactions would just be a tad unnecessary.
spoilered just because it’s not exactly necessary to talk about
That’s a very valid point, and I never thought about it that way. any ways its 6:30 and i have been playing balatro all night so im off to bed, gn or maybe gm would be more appropriate lol.
you also have the shortcut which makes the definition of a straight a little weird cuz you can skip a rank order
