#Small nitpick with the tutorial

It doesn't ever explain interest.

Interest is a crucial mechanic for the game and although it's very easy to understand the moment you get 1$ interest, it's never explained or told it's important.

You might think people will find out eventually after 2 or 3 games, but from the 5-6 people i've showed the game:

  • One of them figured out interest in their first game
  • 2 of them only played green deck for the 3-4 months they were with the game cause they couldn't win money on any other deck
  • The others figured it out after their first victory

This clearly shows me how interest is a bit more hidden than one could think, and considering how broad of an audience this game has, I think lengthening the tutorial a bit to explain interest and the pay-out screen in general could be positive for the game's tutorial, as it's not as obvious of a concept to a decent amount of the player base as it might seem at first glance

--- Implementation ---

For implementing it I'd like to take a few things into account:

  • Make it un-missable
  • Keep it short
  • Make it still feel like an explanation of the current game and not the tutorial just telling you "here have this so you can see how this mechanic works"

Ideas for how it could be implemented:

  • TUTORIAL seed starts you at 6$
  • After jimbo tells you about money, or finishes talking about the left-side UI in general, he gives you 2$ (maybe the red box you click after he talks turns golden or smth)
  • Initial deck is yellow deck
  • The tutorial is played with a tutorial deck (as you "unlock" red deck after playing your first run) tutorial deck could have +2 starting $

Then when getting to pay-out screen jimbo tells you that's your interest, a line-long explanation, "always remember to get your interest up" and "click here to leave"
